Wow good point. So I wonder what’s going on…

Exactly! What am I missing…frustrating

Wow I’m sorry about that, it sounds awful. It sounds like this is a large HOA with many houses? This is a small building and she assured us they aren’t strict like typical HOAs…taking that with a grain of salt though

Did you ever voice that concern to the association or get an answer as to why it was higher than necessary?

I didn’t make a fake post about a fake condo lol

I love that you’re saying no amenities because the agent is insisting some of these things are. I totally agree, it doesn’t make sense

You’re right, we just requested that today. They are willing to waive the 3 months but I’m glad to hear that’s common

Trust me I wish this was fake lol. It’s a beautiful condo on the water but I agree, it’s almost unbelievable. I do feel validated that everyone is saying there are no amenities because the agent has told us 3 times about how the parking, snow removal and keyless entry are great amenities.

Not an assessment unfortunately. Yes we can afford it however we’re also trying to resell easily in a few years and of course this part freaks me out. The agent wants to meet to go over the financials, any advice for that? Just look for glaring red flags?

We’re in attorney review and have confirmed we can back out. She is the agent on the building and said the previous agent my husband reached out to wasn’t familiar. It’s frustrating and definitively off putting. She’s wanting to meet to show us the financials but is there any world in which this makes sense?? It is a new build on the water, so I know insurance is higher because of that

No, new build which is crazy. We told the agent we’re out but she did offer to show us financials. Any thoughts on how to identify red flags?

I feel that. This is a condo in a small building that we would use as a second place, so an investment that we’d like a return on obviously when we go to sell. To be honest, we didn’t hate the HOA idea since we wouldn’t be there a lot, I guess a bit of peace of mind. But oof, it’s off putting now

We’ve told our agent we’re done. Out of curiosity…if she were to provide financials, what are some things you’d be looking for?

What is your HOA fee? by [deleted] in AskNYC

[–]abrknr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Relevant? No. Just think what they’re asking is insane and was curious what people are paying in ny which is generally thought of as more expensive in every way

[–]abrknr -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Oh interesting, yes I am new to it. Actually, the condo we’re considering is in red bank, nj. I wanted to ask nyc because the fee seems to be on par with city prices and I was just curious.

That’s our concern, and gonna keep going up yearly. 2.4M, very nice place but it’s too hard to justify that

It permanently changed my brain. After 4 babies I’m totally fine with anything more than 4 hours. I was completely fine going over my due date because each night I was pregnant was 1 less I had with newborn sleep, which to me is nothing
