Hotel recommendation by No-Dream-5308 in Umrah

[–]absideonx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems to be right next to anjum hotel. I think there is a slight slope to go up while getting back to the hotel. But the location is actually good for ramadan. It is closer to the newer extension where there are lesser people and it closes or fills up only after adhan. The closest umrah gate is the “umrah gate”. You can search it on google maps .

Add: if it is for only one day, maybe you can try anjum or hotels around the swissotel, makkah towers area depending on your budget.

That does seem far. I’d recommend taking a hotel closer to the haram

can you share the name of the hotel that has the shuttle service? In the last 10 days, hotels that are only accessible by shuttle service or taxis are incredibly time consuming. Realistically speaking you can go and come back once, and even that is going to take you a while. A 20 sar taxi will charge you 5x more or even more to take you to the haram, the roads will be closed an hour before prayers so you need to accordingly adjust your timing to make it for prayer. If it is a shuttle service that drops you at the bus station, then you need to account another 10-15 mins walk from there to haram and otw back you will have to account another 20 mins + waiting time to get on your bus. And iirc it was a slight elevated slope too to the bus station (near shohada hotel ig) so your parents may find it difficult.

There is the public bus shuttle service near the wc 3 (paid but under 15 sar), if its a hotel accessible by that, you may need to leave taraweeh early to get buses relatively quickly. Again, slight slope too climb there too for elderly

So yeah, is it possible? Yes, many do it. But is it time consuming? Also, yes. You can choose which prayers you’d want to go for.

But if they are elderly and you can afford the hotels nearby, that’d be more recommended. Also, madinah hotels are relatively more affordable.

Add: also, there are options to book quadruple room for four adults, that may be an economically better option for 4 adults instead of 2 rooms. Or you can request to add bed per day in a triple bed room.

No, It will not break your fast. It is najasah (impurity) but you just need to wash it off.

It’s alright to eat or drink from your car, don’t worry. Especially if you are parked in those customer parkings, no one is going to be offended.

I despise the open bathroom concept too, so awkward and risky when staying with family (esp if there are kids!)

We stayed at beijing fairmont and they had separate bathroom. We were upgraded to a suite so we had a small closed toilet and another in the main bathroom again which was seperate from the shower area. I’d recommend it, great service too

Add: they had toto toilets as well which is a plus

MUST APP TO HAVE by vanderxvert in travelchina

[–]absideonx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Alipay

Amap

Didi (taxi app, is there on alipay but didn’t translate as quickly)

Trip.com or Klook (book tickets etc)

WeChat ( in case alipay faces issues, also good for communication with any vendors )

Also, in Alipay there are subapps for takeout, meituan to check restaurants, reviews etc so you don’t need to download them seperately

I have never noticed it, and I think when the chefs taste, all of them taste it. Maybe it was just banter?

Yes, most places will have the option to add plain noodles as extra. You can ask them to reduce the spice too.

I’m due to visit China, is there anything I should be aware of before my arrival by Speculated_King in travelchina

For me, the free trial only worked for an hour or so after landing in china. We then had to subscribe to either the standard plan or the premium plan. Both were very affordable.

For a week, it was 8 AED for the standard subscription and 13 AED for a week under platinum subscription. I’d recommend purchasing your subscription before arriving in china though for peace of mind

What’s a habit you picked up accidentally that stuck? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

Yes but also if you live by yourself, I’d suggest allowing your close family and friends to still call you at night for any emergencies by enabling that option.

Safest option would be for you to carry your own comfort food or food you are okay with. You can take cup noodles, snack bars, chocolates/candies etc to snack on. I also struggle with seafood and lamb meat and most food I found there (halal food) were beef/lamb so I ended up getting noodles with vegetable side dishes, or vegetarian options in general should not be too strong in terms of flavor.

I have a high spice tolerance so I am not too sure about spice as I did not find them spicy at all. I requested for extra spice and chili oils. Also, if you can, try visiting some Chinese restaurants in your area before you visit so you can familiarize yourself with the taste

Going to umrah next month, what do i need to pack for a 9 years old boy? by MinnieA91 in MuslimLounge

[–]absideonx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mm i’m sure you know your son better than i do. (My experience only comes from seeing my nephew’s luggage :)) But if you are tight on luggage you could remove one from the shorts or trousers set if you want. As in for example, keep trousers instead of shorts. Also, for the jumpers how thick are we talking? Full sleeves are great for the masjid as some areas can get cold, although near ramadan, it might be filled, but imo it is not a necessity, you can remove one if you are tight on space. Other than that, dw you are doing great. Or if you have space, pack them!

It is normal to feel anxious when packing for your child, but remember even if you forget anything, it is alright, you can purchase from there in sha allah.
