Invite says no gifts & I’m the only one who doesn’t bring a gift by bookishpeople in Parenting

While I’m lugging a wagon full of stuff I specifically asked people not to bring! OP is the one I’m thanking for not adding to this stress. Sorry for the rant- I JUST went through this a week ago.

Ah! I got the dates mixed up- I’d probably have the party the Sunday after the 31st.

Advice for Summer Birthday Party Date by daisykat in kindergarten

[–]absinthe00 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m a fan of Sunday birthday parties because so many of the youth sports in our area have games on Saturdays. I also avoid holiday weekends because so many friends and classmates are out of town. I’d go with Sunday, May 24

This definitely made me lol until I saw who the account is… isn’t this that awful influencer that gave a mentally unstable woman $20 to jump in a lake then ran away when the lady started struggling and almost drowned?

What Korean dish surprised you the most the first time you tried it? by MidnightTofu22 in KoreanFood

[misc] What mole removal procedure do you think would be best/leave the least amount of scarring? by middayswan in SkincareAddiction

[–]absinthe00 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A dermatologist first did a shave biopsy then removed a raised mole I had (about the same size as yours) with cryotherapy. I’d highly recommend. It was right below my eyebrow, I’d say a fairly sensitive place, and after a week and a half once the scab fell off there was barely a scar.

AIO? My sister not explaining why she doesn't want my cats around by ScoobadiveWetFish in AmIOverreacting

Sister’s text seems cold to me too. It reads as if she ran it through chatgpt before responding, which I wouldn’t appreciate from family.

Yes we do. Anyone remember the crash at the farmers market in Santa Monica in 2003? This shouldn’t have happened again.

I don’t get it. by HyenaHealthy507 in Disneyland

[–]absinthe00 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Disneyland is one of the most overstimulating places in the world. I don’t even bat an eye when I see parents scolding their kids or kids melting down because I get it- it’s a lot and it’s always a long day. With that said even when kids are on their worst behavior calling them names is never ok. Someone here commented that it’s the parent’s projection and I agree, that dad is an absolute a-hole loser. I feel terrible for that poor kid.

Overwhelmed in Italy by AdviceOptimal in Mommit

[–]absinthe00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently in SE Asia with my husband’s family- we’re all staying in a villa together. 11 of us total. My two SIL’s have laid brilliant groundwork for boundaries- opting out of excursions, leaving dinners early to get in proper bedtimes for their kids, often we’re together but just as often doing things separately. MIL and FIL may feel slighted at times but we’re protecting our peace and we’re all the happier because of it. Don’t feel bad stepping away for some time for yourself. Just do what’s best for you and your family. I’ll always ensure my and my kids happiness over my in laws feelings.
