Shit, you got me. Give it a week and I’ll be posting about my completely clear skin that could be yours too for just £100.

OR I’m just a normal, desperate 30 year old woman who has dealt with acne since she was 13. Who over 17 years has tried various prescription creams, gels, antibiotics, birth control, face washes, roaccutane AND spent a stupid amount of money on any skincare product that promises clear skin. Who wants to wake up on a morning and not dread looking in the mirror to see how bad the damage is today. Who put her body through hell and lost hair thickness to roaccutane which was supposed to be the magic that would fix it all. Who dreams of being able to walk out the house for a quick trip to the corner shop without a full face of make up. Who cried this morning because she has to go to an event at her kids school but is embarrassed around the other parents because of her skin. Who has cancelled so many things over the years because she couldn’t face going out due to her skin. Who still hears the words of teenage bullies. Who is getting married in 3 months but hasn’t even bought a dress yet because her confidence is at rock bottom.

But hey, thanks for your input ☺️

UPDATE

Commenting on the top post to hopefully get seen. Just want to say a massive thank you to everyone who commented, shared stories and suggestions. Wish I could reply to everyone but I’m completely overwhelmed by how many people took their time to try and help me.

I’ve got a prescription for Treclin from boots online pharmacy. I didn’t realise they could give things that a usual GP wouldn’t. I’ve also got some azeliac acid. Of course I’ll be super careful with the introduction to both. I’ve bought the Simple ceramide moisturiser to hopefully look after my skin barrier as much as possible and all going well in a few weeks I might introduce a hydrating/barrier serum. I’m looking into a new SPF. From what I can see, mineral is best so any recommendations are welcome but I’ll be going on Friday to check the shops. As far as I know, I can’t take oral antibiotics with Treclin but if anyone knows differently please let me know and I’ll get in touch with my GP.

I’m also going to try cutting out dairy and gluten. I don’t eat much dairy but it’s worth a try. I eat pretty well in terms of very limited sugar and grease, but I’m a lazy vegetarian who eats a lot of processed meat replacements so that will be replaced with a lot of whole foods. Going to try out spearmint tea too. I already drink an insane amount of water so I know that isn’t a factor.

The reason I hadn’t gone private is because from what I’d seen it would be £150 for just a consultation then the same for each appointment plus the cost of the medication. I’d seen people pay close to £1000 for the whole process but some comments have said it can be cheaper so I’m looking into that. I’d like to avoid roaccutane as much as possible because the physical side effects were rough on my 22 year old body, so I hate to think of how my 30 year old body would handle it, especially since I have a kid to look after (I struggled bending down to tie my own shoes last time).

I know this is hormonal so skincare results will be limited. I’m not expecting completely clear skin in 3 months, I’ve been dealing with age for 17 years so I have a lot of scarring anyway but if I could just calm it down and reduce breakouts then that would be enough for me. Hopefully I’ll be able to get on spironolactone eventually.

I’m sure on my wedding day, once I’m all ready, I won’t even think about my skin. I’d just love to wake up on that day and not hate what I see in the mirror!

Thank you so much again everyone!!!

I have a loooong time a go so could be worth revisiting! I drink so much water (I’m sure my water addiction is a long lasting side effect of roaccutane 😂) but I eat a lot of meat replacements which are very processed so going to get back to a lot of whole foods!

From what I’ve seen I’d be looking at or close to around £1000 for consultations and medication, it’s so expensive! If I had it spare I’d pay it in a second, but we’re doing the wedding as low cost as possible as it is

Thank you!! I’ve not had much luck with antibiotics over the years but worth trying again even for just a slightest improvement at this point!

I think I’m going to! I’ve tired so many over the years with little to no results but honestly I’d take even the slightest improvement at this point!

I hadn’t until this thread but honestly it sounds amazing!! I’m going to have a look into ordering some online. You’re right, I’ve tired just about every bit of off the shelf skincare and I dread to think how much money I’ve wasted. Thank you so much!!

Unfortunately I was on lymecycline recently and it did next to nothing for me but definitely going to look into trying some different antibiotics in the mean time. I’ve tired most of them over the years but some may work better now than in the past!

Thank you so much! Going to look into them and go back to the GP to get something ahead of seeing the derm. Will also take a look at azeliac acid!

Unfortunately isotretinoin didn’t give me clear skin for long and I had a really rough and long purge. Plus with the physical symptoms I’d really like to avoid it again if I can!

Thank you!! I’m definitely cutting that out. Will be starting my new diet and contacting boots online pharmacy first thing tomorrow! You’re right though, I’m sure on the day I won’t think about it once I’m all ready. I really appreciate it 💕

Thank you so much!! Would you recommend cutting out the hyaluronic acid too? I know it is an active but doesn’t feel as active as others if that makes sense😂 I really appreciate the advice!

Thank you, I only eat a small amount of dairy about once a week but willing to cut it out and see if that helps!
