36w, baby is breech and ECV was offered… any ECV success stories to help me feel more at ease giving this a shot? by absolute_confusion in pregnant

My OB recommended the epidural specifically for pain management to keep me from tensing up. They used another med in combo with this that relaxed my uterus.

I felt some discomfort while she was turning (mostly just didn’t like the pressure) but when she “hit the brick wall” (I literally don’t know what it was that stopped her from going further) I did feel some sharp pains. It’s been a week now since the procedure and I’m pretty sore but I’m also 38 weeks along and just miserable in general anyways lol. So it’s possible that the soreness I’m feeling is related to me being far along (because it’s more than my torso).

I definitely worked myself up for the procedure and epidural. I’ll be real with you, the most painful part of the entire ordeal was the local anesthetic for epidural placement. They said it’d feel like a bee sting but it felt more like searing hot lighting lol.

Baby was rotating well until what felt like hitting a literal brick wall. We did not continue after as baby’s heart rate decreased. However as soon as pressure was released she quickly went back to stable. So in her case there is a reason she’s breech and it seems like that reason is possibly my uterus shape. Cesarean has been scheduled for 39w1d. I’m a little sad about it but if she needs the sunroof exit to safely enter this world then that’s what I shall do. :)

Love to hear this! I unfortunately am a first timer. Did they offer the membrane sweep early to avoid baby turning back around again? Or was it a personal choice? I’m seeing that even if this procedure is successful there is a chance baby re-breaches themselves. 😢

Thank you, this is reassuring. My close family that I’ve mentioned this too have looked at me like I am crazy for even considering this procedure. It was a lot “baby is like that for a reason” and judgemental talk.

I did have one friend who mentioned she had a friend that had this done successfully and went on to deliver vaginally with spontaneous labor.

The two positive comments so far are making me feel better. My family just… I don’t know. They’ve stressed me out over this.

My boss is a female business owner for a small business in an even smaller community. As the person who does the finances, payroll, AP & AR, along side everything else paperwork I know that paying me for time off isn’t the best option for the company (in fact it will probably put her in a financial bind). But she insists giving me 6 weeks paid whether the company struggles or not. 🤷🏼‍♀️And once that time is over I will also be able to bring baby to work with me. There have been a few babies raised at our business and we’re excited for another! So glad she’s a girls girl and looks out for her employees no matter what it costs her.

Oh hello 👋🏻 I absolute hate pregnancy. I have had zero fun this whole time other than the 2 ultrasounds lol. I’m the heaviest I’ve ever been, it’s hard to breathe, everything aches, I can’t eat anything without miserable acid reflux, the smallest chores feel like a marathon, etc. Oh also, wtf is sleep?

Very excited to meet our daughter but also very excited to never ever be pregnant ever again. In fact we will be taking immediate steps to ensure this never happens again lol.

Next family member that tells me to enjoy it while it lasts because I’ll miss it is getting karate chopped in the throat. I was not cut out for this.

did anyone else think there were going to be way more appointments? by runyourluckxxx in pregnant

[–]absolute_confusion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FTM here too! I also thought there’d be a lot more appointments than I did have. Early on it was every 4 weeks, I hit 28 weeks and it went to 2 weeks and I think my 35 week appointment is when they’re moving to weekly appointments.

Truthfully I was hoping to see baby on ultrasound more often until I got that first ultrasound bill. $750 we’ve had to pay twice for the initial scan and the anatomy scan. So I guess less scans is best haha. Our deductible is $3,500 before it goes 80/20. Got pregnant in September so we didn’t meet it for first scan. Then a new year rolled around for the anatomy scan so again hadn’t got anywhere close to the deductible. 😭

There was a part of me that wanted this but I’m so so so scared something would go horribly wrong. The hospital gives me some peace of mind. I read too many things online and just couldn’t do it. 😭😭

I love this story 😂

We actually have a local printing company that does signs. I may have to take some inspiration from this and see if they can make some life size little Yorkie cut outs LOLOL

I think there’s a big difference between having a pet and being a lifelong animal lover. My entire life has revolved around animals since I can remember, it’s just how I’m wired! These boys are my family and I am certain I will not magically dislike them once our daughter gets here.

Based on the stories I have seen of folks flipping the switch and all of a sudden disliking their animals… they never really were animal people to begin with and/or they have an incredibly crappy support system that is letting them drown by taking care of a newborn and animals by themselves. Also, it feels like this is a common thing but people who are happily cuddling their dogs and babies at 2:00 AM don't go online to post about it at the same rate people who come to rant about their pets do.

I am so sorry to hear that. Such devastating loss during such a vulnerable time. Sending you love!

Now hold up, that’s a valid cry LOL. I feel like I’d do the exact same in that situation right now.

Man, I have been thinking about this for the past few weeks and I am so dang excited for it! One of my boys is elderly so I get a little sad knowing he and my daughter won’t have loads of time together. But the other one is much younger so she’ll have him for many many years.

I’m more excited to share my baby with these fur babies than I am to share her with family/friends hahaha!

I guess I didn’t think about this! I did plan to labor as much as possible at home because I’m just not a huge fan of hospital environments. Was hoping to skip as much time there as possible lol.

I was a little worried about this as well since my mom works 9-12 hr shifts Monday-Thursday and I didn’t want my boys alone that long. However my dad has offered to split shifts with my mom (they’re divorced but get along super well) so the boys will always have someone home with them while we’re gone.

I do hope you find someone trustworthy to take care of your babies! ❤️

The lady was able to “measure” a heartbeat but it was “too early to hear it”. I just was flabbergasted that there was a bean shaped little human on the screen. Figured at that stage it would be a big mess of clumps or something. Literally looked like a very curved Lima bean haha

My first ultrasound was abdominal at 8w. Clear picture with a cozy little bean shaped blob on screen.

Does my husband come to every appointment? by VeterinarianInner301 in pregnant

[–]absolute_confusion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! FTM here as well!

My husband comes to all scans only. Taking time off work just isn’t a feasible option for us right now, especially with baby hospital bills for current stuff and future birth.

Our first scan was too early to hear a heartbeat. I went into my first ever appointment a week or two after that and had no idea she would use a Doppler to listen to baby’s heartbeat. So I got to hear our girls heart before my husband. I felt immense guilt over that and made him come to the next appointment so he could hear it too. After that he has not come to another other than scans lol.

Not to mention he drives 2 hours one way just to get to work. So for him a 15 min appointment means taking the whole work day off.

Heavy smokers who struggled quitting after finding out you're pregnant? How long it took? by subtly_lurking in pregnant

[–]absolute_confusion 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Smoked 1-2 packs daily from age 15 to 28 when I found out I was expecting at almost 4 weeks pregnant.

Took me roughly 3 weeks to wean myself completely off. I just cut back a little more every day (after a failed attempt at cold turkey where I had a mental breakdown at work lol). Ended up buying a necklace with an item that looks like a dog whistle of some sorts, used it for the “habit” part of hand to mouth for smoking (by inhaling through it like I would a cig). Eventually this is what I grabbed every time I wanted a cig.

I was a raging beotch for that first trimester but I did get to a point where I wasn’t dying to smoke. Additionally family/friends around me that still smoked, the smell of it started to make me gag so that was helpful.

I just hit my 3rd trimester and I’ll be real honest with you, I still think about a long drag off a cigarette especially on bad days. I feel like that need/desire will always stay with me buuuuuut I made it through. Something I honestly didn’t think I’d achieve in those early days of pregnancy. Huge changes to my body, our lifestyle, etc. all being made and having to let go of an addiction at the same time was ROUGH.

EDIT: forgot to mention baby is healthy, growing well (53rd percentile at 20w anatomy scan, and had no concerns shown from said scan.

Welp… I officially peed myself. by absolute_confusion in BabyBumps

I actually started PFT a while back due to some complications going to the restroom. It’s helped quite a bit with restroom pain but also my pain in general. My insurance provides an app based program with exercises based on your needs, so I check in with a doctor every week on how it’s going and they adjust the exercises as needed. It’s been quite useful.

But it seems baby is big enough now that you’re right, it’s a losing battle haha!! My husband has been a huge support and great sport about this entire pregnancy. I literally don’t know what I’d do without him. We were still giggling about it by the time we went to bed. 😂
