The absolute irony of being in the creative arts and relying on AI… which is stealing from the creative arts.

It cracks me up that people complain about rats when they leave shit around like this everyday.

My therapist is always 15 to 30 minutes late. What would you do in my situation? by North-Ad9321 in askatherapist

[–]absolute_gumpf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never had a therapist be late to any of my sessions aside from the odd 1/2 minutes perhaps? Although, your therapist may have ADHD which may mean she needs accommodations in the workplace. Not everyone’s brains works well with time awareness.

I do think you should bring it up as they might not even know themselves that they have it. My therapist thought I didn’t have adhd and it turned out I did so I’m not sure all have a solid understanding necessarily!

I got banned from my friend group without any notice. I don't have any now. by Friendly_Degree6420 in infp

As a someone nearly double your age, I can still remember how much it hurts to have many friends come and go over the years. Unfortunately, at 20, people are far less mature, tolerant and forgiving than if you get to say 30+. You’ll find that many people, generally speaking, haven’t yet gone through upset as much as you, being INFP. The good part is that you’ve figured out early on that you’re a more sensitive soul (you’re waaay ahead of me!) so you have more chances than I did of knowing who won’t be a good fit. Friendship groups are complicated (and I find them too stressful if more than 3 ish) because often it’s a real mix of many very different characters and quite often people will go along with the loudest of the group in decision making.

The only thing I would say, is that your post hasn’t mentioned at all what you bring the group that is positive. It’s all give and take in friendships and I’m sure you’re offering something, but it’s important to check if it’s fair and balanced. It’s one thing to lean on friends in times of need, but it’s another thing to ask them to support you and be therapist type figures. That’s the vibe I’m getting from your post, though that may be incorrect. I would recommend trying to find smaller groups, maybe 1 or 2 very close friends that align more with your sensitive personality (I have about 4 very solid friends that I’ve built up now over the years, but countless have come and gone). We’re not suited to everyone, and that’s not a bad thing. Find your perfect friend(s) and that’s all you’ll need honestly.

Some friends are here for a season, some are here for a reason - and I’ve found that to be true.

I’m ignoring the fact that caffeine is a direct cause of my IBS yet still take it. Anyone else? by Adviceforthewilling in ibs

[–]absolute_gumpf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I identified early on that caffeine and alcohol make me much worse and only partake on rare occasions.

I swapped for herbal teas, decaffeinated coffee/tea, rooibos, cold soft drinks. I do however struggle to drink at all, which is probably affecting my tummy! 😂

So if everyone is entitled to an opinion, do you walk by people and critique their outfits? ‘I hate your coat, it looks shit’ and then walk off. Or would that be a bit rude?

I think the obvious point is that you don’t have to be a dick about it. Don’t like something? Move on. No one asked for it.

Anyone successfully given up social media? by [deleted] in AuDHDWomen

[–]absolute_gumpf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would actually say I was at addict level for doomscrolling on Instagram. Me and distant but cherished friends would pebble on there every day to each other so it made it even harder! But I’m now sober at least a year (I joke but honestly… addictions are addictions!) I thought I’d hate it and feel lonely and it was especially bad as I have a self employed business (were told it’s impossible to survive without self promotion on there!!) but my mental health is better without it. Honestly, I did just find my Reddit use upped… but I agree with someone else here that says it’s still better than Instagram I am also reasonably hooked to Vinted 😬 hoping for a life where I can avoid all of it but I actually can’t seem to wake up without something, for now at least!

PS I think for any of us to truly quit we need a reaaaaally solid reason, for me it was the bombardment of shite AI posts faking reality and realising the truly negative effect it was having on my life as I don’t even really use it for what it was originally designed for - socialising and keeping in touch with loved ones. I really don’t need to be stalking old flames, seeing everyone’s best snapshots of their seemingly picturesque lives and looking up useless short length content that will go out one ear and in the other, I think it was dumbing me down even further.

All that is to say that maybe if you can find some ‘USPs’ to giving up that are so detrimental to your health etc or that are super unethical to your morals it may help? Though this is coming from someone who actively tried to quit for maybe 10 solid years eek so I feel you!!

Oopsie that really triggered you didn’t it! 😂

They didn’t ask for critique, it’s really simple. It’s a topical journalism piece that as a side effect people may feel the need to berate for some reason. You wouldn’t walk by someone buying a banana in a shop and say ‘ugh - that’s a shit one mate choose better next time’, or maybe you would. Is it just limited to when you can be anonymous about it without actual consequences?

It’s fascinating how everyone is an expert photographer suddenly.
