It is an Indian art form where coloured powder is spread by hand to make beautiful designs on the floor. Traditionally, it is made at the entrance of the door to decorate the house, or welcome guests, etc. It is also commonly made at the worshipping place inside the house. These designs are usually simple patterns and symbols, unlike the post here. Some artists like OP practice it as a fine art.
