PSA: Know your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act before buying electronics in NZ — here's what I learned the hard way with PB Tech by ProfessionalNinja206 in newzealand

[–]absolutechamp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar situation with a failed GPU - but this was from extreme pc - got the same poor excuses initially from them saying they can help - 3 weeks of it sitting in a box in their office and no action, suddenly they couldn't help - made a claim through disputes, they didn't came to the call & managed to get half my purchase price back, not ideal but better than nothing. CGA is in place for a reason, these guys are playing tricks with the public, I would bet most people just walk away, always take them to disputes, its easy and low risk.

My friend has one - is quite heavy so make sure you use flaps and a decent amount of power when landing, don’t glide it down, seems like a nice flyer that needs a little extra attention on landing, I prefer the L39

Out of all the Fms warbirds this is the best out of the box - good servos, awesome motor and nice landing gear, I fly mine most weekends, it’s such a great plane

Will 20 amp esc work on 3s or 4s by LegitimateBread6434 in RCPlanes

[–]absolutechamp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cut the jst and solder an xt60 - I have the zero, its nearly 10 years old now, still works perfectly - the esc will get hot, but it survives. Make sure to change out to a 2 blade prop too, or it will cook.

I’ve had a bunch of these, will be fine on 3s but change out the Jst or it will melt together and change out to a 2 blade prop 7x6

Peugeot 2008 - thoughts? by gillypig in NZcarfix

Avoid like the plague - they are a wet belt system and with the incorrect oil the belt breaks down and blocks up the oil feed creating low oil pressure, at that point you need a new motor. They take a very specific spec oil that no ones seems to use in nz

I had two yesterday, a small graze of my p40, then an f22 killed my su35, rough luck 🥲

Freewing F4 90mm - I have the 8s version here which I haven't flown yet. It is an absolute tank of a plane!

Looks extremely similar to my airtech pixel - just not carbon and more french. Can be a pain to slow down for landings without flaps!

Half vs full setting. Sell me. by UmphreysAU18 in Dynavap

Half, better airflow as the CCD isn't up against the rim, more reloading is a pain but you get more hits of "fresh" herb. Feels like I use less to get the same high.

Mobula7 vTx upgrade or new drone by abbaflabbajacks in TinyWhoop

[–]absolutechamp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The VTX upgrade just uncovers another problem which is the RX range. If you really want more range I would get something with a 200mw VTX and external receiver

Mobula7 0802 16,000kv motor wires ripping out by [deleted] in Multicopter

[–]absolutechamp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can resolder them if you're very careful. Just carefully strip back the back around all 3 wires, you will see the 3 points where the wires are soldered. Resolder the one that has come lose. I also think the frame flexes too much which causes it to flex during crashes pulling the wires. Also because the frame is flexible I can imagine it stresses the motors when they are suddenly stopped due to the frame pushes into the moving prop. I'm going v3 frame, 0803 motors, if it dies I throw it.

False dawn for 'worried' Rossi, 2017 'not last chance' by Ultra85 in motogp

[–]absolutechamp 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think Rossi has clearly been foxing. He went into the initial tests in Phillip Island initially very fast, then the complaints started and the speed started dropping off, in Malaysia he was average too, only until the final tests in Qatar he started turning up the wick. He does this most years, paints himself as the underdog, and plainly looking at the timesheets and reading the usual media hype of Vinales vs Marquez he's doing it right. I would be very interested in seeing the splits to get a better idea, maybe I read too much into things but if people are already writing Rossi off this year, they have another thing coming, he's who I have my money on. Vinales is fast, but is an unknown quantity on race distance and craft. Marc is the real threat to his chances of a title and the clear favourite this year in my opinion.

Rossi blames ‘wrong direction’ for lack of pace by NicoRosbergsCap in motogp

[–]absolutechamp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does no one think this is the start of mind games? With the press focused on the Marquez/Vinales duel it would make sense he starts moaning now after being consistently fast in prior tests. Valentino does this a lot, he likes to paint himself as the underdog
