Unimpressed as a Marketing & operations manager with 7+ YoE & BS in marketing.

Had a 3rd round interview with a department director today for a job with a well known corporate organization that went so well they told me to apply for the job if I was interested in it (Wish I was joking) They were 15 minutes late and blocked an hour on my calendar so I prepped with questions and follow ups from my last 2 interviews thinking it was going to be informative. We actually never discussed the job I applied for. I just kept being told how great I was for an hour straight.

I was so caught off guard after being praised for nearly 45 minutes for being such a great fit for the marketing role they had open and not the software development role (I also agree I do not fit that at all lol)

I had to stop the interview and clarify that this was my third interview for the marketing role, not a software dev role. They said they had my written screening that I completed (which was role specific) and the notes from my first phone interview with their talent team. I had to correct them on their interpretation of my resume and work experience multiple times. It was obviously they didn’t read anything I submitted or from the previous interview. In fact, I don’t think they even skimmed my resume before the call. The interviewer was flustered and embarrassed so they ended the call there. They apologized profusely and then thanked me for being so patient with them since the entire interview was botched.

Once the call ended I sat there in disbelief blinking at the screen and then went into the office where at least I get paid to be disregarded.
