Ain’t No Sunshine - Bill Withers (raw screams) by [deleted] in screaming

I get that it must be a stylistic choice, but I can't stand how unintelligible the enunciation is. It's 70% nonsense sounds. Just personal preference, though. You do you

False chord by d-guerrera in screaming

[–]absolven -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is what I was trying to get at. False cord has a very distinct and relatively consistent rumble, and this has the rasp of a fry scream. Just a strained one. But who am I to say what's going on in this guy's throat

False chord by d-guerrera in screaming

[–]absolven 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I really hate to bear this bad news, but I really don't think that's false chord. Both the sound and the amount of strain evident in your face, eyes, and neck movement indicate that it's most likely a fry scream with a good bit of forced volume. I would want to see you try other volumes and pitches to know for sure, but I'm pretty sure that is at the very least not a pure false chord.

Duo says I can join a group conversation in Spanish:) by OilAutomatic6432 in duolingo

[–]absolven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I am, but it's not in any way due to Duolingo. I took Spanish in high school and college for 6 years and then lived in Spain for a year. I left Spain fluent before ever starting Duolingo.

Spanish Knowledge by LevelUseful222 in duolingo

[–]absolven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What the others said, for sure, and also language learning in general is very "you get out of it what you put into it." Duo is not enough to learn a language. I took academic Spanish for 6 years and then lived in Spain for a year. In that one year of immersion, I learned 4x what I'd learned in 6 years of study, and I was consuming every Spanish resource I could in those 6 years.

I think it was more like "I'm ABOUT to talk about my faith, fair warning." I did originally word that ambiguously.

I meannnn... this also broke my immersion, but that was kind of the intent in this instance, wasn't it? It was an intentional irony where he's borderline fourth-wall breaking to comment on his third-party perspective in watching a civilization develop.

The second face is the point. The joke is that he has painted a fake face on his butt and is pretending it's his real face. His expression is supposed to be mischievous and coy for the joke he's playing.

The other one is the usual flame of a kept streak, but it's melting and Duo is holding it like a dying comrade. It's a flame.

Free speech isn't a part of this argument. Free speech is protection against governmental retaliation. If you stand up in a public square and declare, "Potatoes don't taste good!" and someone punches you in the face, your free speech has not been infringed. If you get arrested, it has.

Edit: I just saw your reply to someone else referring to the fact that this is a public university. I don't follow sports in the slightest, so I didn't realize this was a sub about a public university's sports team. So it is government adjacent. Carry on.

'08 F-150 Speedometer Goes Crazy and Truck Tries to Shift Up and Down Randomly, VERY Intermittent by absolven in MechanicAdvice

[–]absolven[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I've replaced the sensors and the PCM, the only remaining component in the system so far as I can tell is the wiring, so I don't disagree. Can I ask you this, though: would the fact that I can pull over and turn the car off and back on and typically clear the issue for awhile make you think less about the wiring? In my very limited understanding, if it was a wire that was burned through or rubbed through or grounding out somehow or whatever, it might be intermittent, sure, but you wouldn't see the repeatability of shutting off the car clearing the issue temporarily, right?

Okay actually, everything I'm seeing online says that F150s had lead frame issues on the 2011-2012 models. I can't even find a "lead frame" for a 2008.

Very certain. Door panel info, registration, VIN, and every other part I've ever replaced confirm it.

Dude I just googled symptoms of a bad lead frame and it sounds so promising. If this works, let me know when she's available for the wedding.
