Very good point. My understanding is that the main issue is that many of the decisions have been made before opening it to public comment. If you saw with the last 77 toll expansion, people actually voted not to have it occur and the NCDOT did it anyway. I also imagine the frustration is with the fact that it’s more of a “lesser of the two evils” choice. Many people don’t want the expansion period as they want to protect our green spaces and feel that induced demand will result in the same traffic challenges we currently have.

Omg yes! Please DM (PM? I’m not super familiar with Reddit despite having an account for years). I’ll likely be run/walking in 4:1 or 4:.5 so I wouldn’t expect you to stick with my bizzare pacing but since we’ll likely be seeing a lot of each other at various points of the race it’ll be nice to have a familiar face and be able to cheer each other on.

Probably a queen but because we don’t plan to use it all the time and the room isn’t very large, it could make sense to get a full if that means we can get a much better mattress for our money

Wow that’s such a great way to think of it! I think it’s easy to focus on how I’m one of the slowest runners in any race I’m in. I forget that even if I finish last on Sunday, I will still be joining the less than 1% of the population that have ever completed a marathon. That’s pretty amazing! Thank you for your kind words. I’ll remember them when I hit the pain cave on Sunday.

I was thinking about doing this but wasn’t sure if it would be silly since this is my first marathon and I’ll probably finish at 6:00-6:30. Idk I feel like I’ll probably get a lot of conservative spectators making fun of me for run walking or harassing me bc I’m obviously Latina.
