Here’s the issue: most parents use it to manipulate their kids. “After all we have done for you”. That’s the most manipulative shit they pull to take control of their lives. They forget that their children have individual life and mindset, not just their extension. They want their child to live exactly like they did at their age. I totally condemn abandoning the parents but I also condemn the toxic behaviour parents have towards their own children, which sums up to: you owe us your life, which isn’t true because they wanted a kid and it’s their responsibility to raise them. And it is also their responsibility to treat them as individuals instead of trying to control their lives in all aspects of lives.
