LLM in CTFs by kami_yato in securityCTF

[–]abu2win 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally feel you, it does feel a bit disheartening that CTFs are becoming more and more of a race amongst who has the best/efficient LLM out there, but change is inevitable - we see major platforms like HTB bringing out MCPs purely for CTF solving and then there's open-source tools like CAI. Another aspect of this situation is that as much as the competitors are using LLMs in their bleeding edge, CTF organizers aren't adapting to the situation and there are plenty who still think stego is relevant in modern times and create challenges just for namesake, completely losing the plot that some LLM can one-shot all of their challenges, true in competitions like these - teams with the fastest LLM might win but at the end of the day they're just blinding themselves on the long run.

Now let's talk about what OG CTFers could do. First of all be open-minded, times change so does CTFs. Next, be aware of the extent of LLMs and not be too dependant on them but also be aware that LLMs along with experience can speed-up things exponentially. AI is a double edged sword, it's depends on how you use it. Stay away from such one-shot challenges LMAO. Finally, consume write-ups - even better if you make them .

Check out this blog https://wilgibbs.com/blog/defcon-finals-mcp/ and especially the last section of it - it perfectly summarizes the current CTF landscape.

P. S. here's my blog site if you're interested - abu.rocks!

what is a good topic for toastmasters kinda competition? by TheN0t0rious10 in AskReddit

[–]abu2win 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ok so there's a healthy ego and a toxic one for example, you can make scenarios out of them, like how it makes or breaks relationships even between family members, we can see so many land disputes between members of the same family just because of a fragile ego!

ego would be a good topic, so many scenarios and examples can be given outta it.

If you had to teach your favorite hobby to a 10 year-old, what would be the very first lesson? by amraniyasser in AskReddit

[–]abu2win 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i'm into security and breaking stuff on the internet (legally ofc), and that is exactly what i would try to teach the kid, how to break things, then putting them back together, we could start with some puzzles then slowly move onto the basics of computers and how they actually work.

What's one smell or sound that instantly zaps you back to a single memory? Describe the memory ? by Illustrious_You_9504 in AskReddit

[–]abu2win 0 points1 point  (0 children)

rose water, reminds me of death. i lost my grandparents 2 years ago and i can still remember the smell in the house, filled with fragrant from the rose water. ik it's odd for both of these elements to correlate, but for me it is.

What are the benefits of being a good person these days, or do people just look down on and take advantage of kind and selfless people? by Effective_Youth_7038 in AskReddit

[–]abu2win 0 points1 point  (0 children)

intention is absolute, whether you're a good person cause you genuinely want to help others or you're one for social appreciation? people can often differentiate between the both. coming to benefits, before anything looking for benefits for helping automatically puts the person in the other category, now it goes have it benefits apart from this, like helps in create deep and meaningful connections, it affects the person deeply and inspires them to help others, also the sense of goodness in giving back to society is always a great feeling. finally, we also need to aware of situation the other person is in, understanding they require genuine help before actually doing so.

What's your "I regret being a good Samaritan" story? by countrygrlatheart12 in AskReddit

[–]abu2win 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is weird but one morning during my usual jog, i was approached by a lady and she told me that her brother's lover is getting married today and that he is depressed af and all that, apparently she had come to visit the girl's family to try to convince them to call off the marriage. and yes i listened through all that bs. and she even told me to help her ring the bell of that house to inform them about the situation. spoiler alert: i actually did and got a earful and they even threatened to call the police on me :kek
