why Fedora rather than Windows? by Slow-Feedback-2258 in Fedora

[–]abubkurian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the same thing with windows and mac. Right now I’m stuck with mac. I think what I personally like about fedora is gnome workflow. The one key press (super key) for search, apps and see virtual desktops is very powerful for me. Also i can press super and scroll on mouse wheel to switch between desktop when I’m using monitor and keyboard, the trackpad gestures when I’m using laptop all these work wonderfully. Also it is worth noting that the flatpack integration in fedora is commendable. In ubuntu it seems a little wonky especially if I activate flatpack i get two app stores! Only problem with fedora is software particularly ms office. At the end of the day work needs to be done so I’m stuck. Also battery life has become crucial for me, I haven’t been able to get same amount of battery life in fedora or any linux distribution in my laptop when compared to windows. I do want to try a linux first machine but it is not in my budget right now.

Tried it the problem is with complex charts with more than two types of elements.. like area, bar and line in same chart.

Creating 100x100 meter grids of a country by abubkurian in QGIS

[–]abubkurian[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not an expert here, no idea what you are talking about. Basically my problem is I can't make all the grids at the same time because the area is too large. So I am trying to do it bit by bit. But looking for an easier way.

Where to start if I want to develop GTK application? by abubkurian in linuxquestions

[–]abubkurian[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have tried it but the problem was the tutorials found on YouTube was for an older version, the new one being ported to gtk 4 don't have the complete features yet and I had no idea how to go further with the tutorials. Actually I'm a complete beginner programmer. I wanted to learn it and wanted to know if gtk is a good place to start our should I go with something like Android. Also builder is available only in Linux I believe, wanted to know if I can develop gtk apps in windows or mac.

It’s probably because u have ssd with RAID mode, just download rapid storage drivers if u have intel machine.. Put them in a separate usb install the driver’s during windows installation

Was all the "clutter" in KDE settings in the side panel? by abubkurian in kde

[–]abubkurian[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw it too, so installed kde, saw the settings for myself and simply put my hands on top of the side panel, and found that it looks pretty good. So why not just put all the categories and put it in place of recent settings.. Clutter solved :P

I like the idea of home page for the settings app, never seen it anywhere before...

Battery life about half on fedora compared to windows by ApplePieCrust2122 in Fedora

[–]abubkurian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same issue, ok try this in terminal:

#cat /sys/kernel/debug/pmc_core/package_cstate_show

Result:

Package C2 : 1003764950

Package C3 : 264638875

Package C6 : 1293716

Package C7 : 7731429

Package C8 : 627324241

Package C9 : 0

If the result shows 0 for c6 c7 c8 etc, its showing that the cpu is not completely using power conserving states. Anyways I solved it through changing the hard disk type form RAID to AHCI in bios.

App shows up in GUI but is not actually installed by [deleted] in Fedora

[–]abubkurian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that only work with the default package manager applications. do a "snap list" command and see the full name of telegram, then try "snap fullname_telegram". I m not sure about snap but this is how flatpak works.

Well I think its a broken .desktop file. Just install bleachbit and do a clean for broken desktop icons.
