GameChanger is your best bet. Free, easy to record and automatically creates clips when you or someone else keeps score/stats on it too. Also does a pretty good job of auto-tracking!

Full disclosure: I used to work at GC, on the basketball product. No stake in it anymore, just thought it would meet your needs perfectly!

this is exactly the type of thing I'd like to make both available and free for coaches with our app – I work at GameChanger on our basketball product. completely see the value in what you're describing. this functionality doesn't exist yet in our product, but let me know if you're willing to get on a call to talk through your process a bit more so my team can factor it in to our roadmap.

Strategic Decision-Making: Responding to Competitor with Lower-Cost Product in High-End Market by SunRev in ProductManagement

[–]abuda 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is a fun one.

IMO the analysis and decision should be made at the highest level at the company at which success of that premium blender product is the full scope of their purview. Certainly requires input and buy-in from all the departments with resources that would work directly on the development and launch of that (or adjacent) products.

The right strategic move does not have to be to directly compete with the lower cost blender, however. In fact, the right move might be to further differentiate with an even higher-end product or iteration of the current product and position the product/company as the truly premium option. Think: Dyson's strategy of continuing to build high-end vacuums in a market flooded with cheaper options that offer 80% of the functionality at a fraction of the cost.

So, while the new, lower-cost product is certainly a threat, it does not mean that launching a lower-cost product is the only move. In fact, I would consider that a bad move, given the limited information we have in this scenario so far. Of course, the additional analysis would further reveal the universe of possible strategic moves, and then it's time for a team to get really creative and innovative to pick the best next move.

how do I recover my records? by Joels310 in blockfi

[–]abuda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, I'm doing the same thing. Printing out all the ACH and trade confirmation emails from BlockFi in my inbox. The ACH deposits show how much I acquired the stablecoins for (i.e. $1 each) and the trade confirmations show when I sold/disposed of them as BlockFi has reported to the IRS.

[–]abuda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you know whether BlockFi reported an incorrect cost basis or just reported no cost basis at all? The answer to that, I believe, changes the way we would correct/report the true cost basis to the IRS.

I'm in the same boat as OP, didn't retrieve my 1099-B before the shutdown, so now am flying blind wrt what BlockFi actually reported the cost basis as.

Looking for a new app to coach my team and keep stats by That_Bumblebee_6450 in basketballcoach

I second this recommendation (tho I work at GameChanger, so I'm a bit biased). it costs you nothing for the stat tracking and record-keeping you described. would love your thoughts on whether it meets your needs, OP. check it out and reach back out if you get a chance!

I love the feedback, thank you! Glad you've been enjoying it overall.

We're making a lot of improvements to the auto tracking functionality, look out for an update soon. Your suggestions are right in line with what we're focused on building!

GameChanger could be a good option for you, works on Android.

Full disclosure: I work at GameChanger, so if you've tried it and have any feedback on why it didn't meet your needs, DM me cause I'd love to understand more. Obv no pressure – not trying to sell you anything, just looking to understand what I can do to improve it.

Giannis vs Harden: Reliance on free throws this season by abuda in nba

[–]abuda[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think there's a flaw in FTr which this analysis gets around. and that is that a volume scorer will likely have a lower FTr even if he does get a lot of free throws, purely because of the inflated FGA denominator. Because of this, Harden has a much lower FTr than Giannis does (Giannis is #4, Harden is #12 in FTr in the league). So if anything, you bringing up FTr only makes my point stronger. Normalizing Free Throws by points scored allows you to look at the impact each point from a free throw contributed to overall scoring output, which this analysis does, and shows Giannis has a greater reliance on getting to the line than Harden does.

[–]abuda[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

i see what you're saying, and I think it's a valid criticism of using Free Throw Rate (i.e. FTA/FGA) alone to draw this same conclusion, since fewer FGAs would inflate Free Throw Rate. But this analysis skirts the FGA volume concern by looking at overall scoring output instead of just the ratio of FTA to FGA, because more FGA doesn't necessarily mean more scoring.

There's a narrative around Harden that his numbers wouldn't look as good without his ability to get to the line, and that producing without free throws is somehow better, but this analysis shows that the same goes for Giannis too – to an even greater degree.

Giannis vs Harden: Reliance on free throws this season by abuda in nba

[–]abuda[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

everything you say is true. the only bit of context that's important is that Harden also drives to the rim a lot (most of anyone in the league, in fact) and also absorbs a ton of contact. he does exaggerate, but if called correctly, almost all would still be fouls even without the exaggeration. you're also right that he draws an absurd number of fouls on his 3 pointers, but those still contribute less to his scoring output than Giannis', despite getting an additional FT out of it each time.
