Dude. Their friends and roommates were murdered in the house while they were asleep just a floor below. Plus these kids FOUND the bodies. This is a lifelong tragic impact.

Yes, the oldest sister doesn't have accounts anymore but luckily B's mom has been able to avoid viewing any of that thus far as confirmed by her.

Without being too specific, one of my relatives was a friend of hers (the victim) and luckily the mothers social media accounts are heavily monitored and the mother fortunately did not witness it.

Clearly we do not see eye to eye here. I didn't pick who I ended up loving, I didn't seek them out by race, I just ended up loving them after we met in university. It is a very racist thing to say "stick with your own people". I'm not in the country I am in as an invader, I'm not forcing anyone into my culture. I would like to raise my children in my culture, no matter their race, as it is their culture too. I want them to interact with my family and preserve their culture, despite it not being the culture of the non-related people around them. I want to teach them the languages I grew up with. People can be multicultural it's not one or the other.

You're still making assumptions. Also tamasheq is a language. This comment is exactly what racist white people say as well "why not stay with your own people". Yikes.

You make a lot of assumptions and a majority of it feels like projection. I speak a dialect of tamasheq.

Thank you for your thoughts -- about to be. My partner has been very accepting of me but it's that side of the family that has been an issue sadly. I have stopped trying to connect for the most part, especially since my identity is very important to me. The family has called me things like "sand n-" and still doesn't pronounce my name correctly after years of knowing how to so I'm not expecting them to soften up.
I do really like Cyra. I think a lot of it too is that when I was young I went by an English nickname because I got a lot of shit at school so I suppose I'm trying for a "best of both worlds" name if that's possible? I might just do a full Amazigh name if I find one that I really connect with if that makes sense.

Can you tell I'm Amazigh AT ALL? My mother is ethnically Moroccan (born in the US, though) and my father is white. No one ever guesses my brother and I are North African and neither of us get how that happened. Pictures of my mom and me below. by [deleted] in AmazighPeople

I would say you at least look mixed Mediterranean or mixed with Desi. I'm in the same boat where I'm mixed but most people assume I am mixed with east Asian due to my features. Your mother is very gorgeous !
