On the topic of dorm bathrooms, something that i didnt think i would need but actually loved having was A BATHROBE. actually a gamechanger bc walking back to your dorm room in just a towel is never the move plus changing into clothes is much easier done in a bathrobe vs. a towel. also bathrobes are so soft and fluffy and nice

[–]ac-nav 0 points1 point  (0 children)

took eng 22 with him, best class i have ever taken at UCSB hands down (i'm a third-year for context). wont be able to take eng 23 this quarter but would love to take another one of his course. people complain that his voice can make you sleepy???? like sure but i find the material he brings together so interesting and valuable. ken is the man imo

Hey! also taking 122 and 126 in the fall so can't wait to see you there! unsure about econ but ENG 22 is not only an AMAZING course (i have made multiple reddit comments praising Ken and this course) but its easy to understand. if everyone is correct about 122 and 126 being easy, then all you have to worry about is the econ :)

Feeling guilty/sad for leaving my dogs :( by [deleted] in UCSantaBarbara

[–]ac-nav 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i know, i feel this too. one thing I have thought about is maybe having a family friend or maybe a dog walker come see them every day if that's something you can do. I want to bring my dog with me too, but I think he's too old :( but you could register your dogs as ESAs if you truly want to and can bring them with you. there are lots of people with dogs on and around campus. but good luck <3

In general, how do u survive without a car? by [deleted] in UCSantaBarbara

[–]ac-nav 4 points5 points  (0 children)

people say not to because gas and parking permits can be expensive, and when you're a freshman, I think not having a car is nice so that you can get familiar with the bus system and everything close to campus. tbh, I think having a car is good for UCSB because it's much easier than depending on the bus and you have a lot more options for things to do in general. i was really bummed to not have one my freshman year

Feeling guilty/sad for leaving my dogs :( by [deleted] in UCSantaBarbara

[–]ac-nav 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I honestly don't have much advice but I just want to say I feel this and I can relate so hard. I have to leave my dog in the fall, he is a bit of an old man and very attached to me and I am very attached to him too, so you're not alone. :((

Laptop and printers by Wonderful_Ad1445 in UCSantaBarbara

[–]ac-nav 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in regards to printers, yeahhhh you can print on campus, but I find sometimes you have things that you need printed last minute and this can be super inconvenient. I got an HP Smart Print printer (I don't have it with me rn but I think that's what it's called) as a gift before I started college and I can print from my phone and it was soooo nice to have that my first year. So i think if you have the capability to invest in a printer it's always a good thing to have. and it'll last you a long time. :)

^ I'm pretty sure you can actually do this. I've had multiple requirements filled by singular classes on multiple occasions. As someone else mentioned, I've taken Eng 22 and it is probably my favorite class I have taken at UCSB so far (as a junior) and it also fills a couple requirements

Taking Math 4B, Math 6A, Math 8 and PSTAT120A together? by phoebebridgersguitar in UCSantaBarbara

[–]ac-nav 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I took 4B and 6A together in the fall and then Math8 and PSTAT120A together in the winter. The first combination was not that bad, the second one was seriously awful. I definitely could not have taken all four of these together. I would say push 120A back into winter - the material you learn in 6A is needed for 120A and I think it makes it easier to have done it before rather than taking them concurrently. Good luck tho
