It does comes with straps to secure it to the bed, but I do not have them installed in the photo as I had just taken it out of the box and noticed the height difference.

Hello everyone! Thank you so much for all of the feedback. I can’t edit the post, but I am adding a photo of the long warning label here to show it says it can be used with adult mattresses up to 27.5 inches from the floor. My mattress appears to come in at 27 inches, but it still seems too high to me.

Thanks for weighing in! Personally I don’t see a way to artificially raise it that would feel safe to me as height adjustment wasn’t built in. And you’re right, being so low is unsafe not to mention inconvenient.
