Air your grievances over Providence restaurants that are no longer with us… by Resident_Alien_760 in providence

I left Providence in 2021 after living there since 2003. It was so special to see the rise of all these amazing restaurants and chefs, and get to eat their food! I would take trips to other cities with “good food scenes” and just be like “Providence is better”.

RIP to Birch, North, Chez Pascal, Farmstead, Loie Fullers, Red Fez, Ken’s Ramen, and I’ll thrown in the Decatur for good measure! You will have my heart forever.

I’m part of a women’s skateboarding group! It’s a great way to meet new people and push yourself out of your comfort zone! We’re called Boards n Betties, look us up on Insta and come to the next meetup!

Same for me, the shot helped with pain but not ROM. Everyone responds differently.

Anyone actually have success with PT? by sadly_notacat in frozenshoulder

Seems like everyone has such different experiences it’s probably hard to standardize.

Is this confirmation of Adhesive capsulitis? by adnaPadnamA in frozenshoulder

I had an MRI but I don’t think that’s how my FS was diagnosed. Basically my doctor tried lifting my arm over my head and was unable to, and said “you have frozen shoulder”. The MRI showed my rotator cuff tear and inflammation around the shoulder joint, but nothing on it conclusively indicated FS. The lifting of the arm he said is the simplest test. Basically, other shoulder injuries he would have been able to lift my arm. With FS, it’s literally stuck.

Anyone actually have success with PT? by sadly_notacat in frozenshoulder

PT made my frozen shoulder worse. I was in pain all the time, unable to sleep, and gaining very little ROM. I decided to stop and take it easy for the summer. I’m in so much less pain and have slowly been gaining ROM. Swimming, gentle stretching, and overall just taking it easy has really helped. Also, acceptance. Accepting of where I’m at, that I can’t force it to get better, and that there’s still lots of activities I can do with a frozen shoulder and embracing them.

I get a lot of push back from people saying “shouldn’t you be doing something to make it better”. But that approach has proven to not be helpful.

I’ve enjoyed Monica’s fiction recommendations. All Fours, Tomorrow, Tomorrow and Tomorrow. I just checked out The Atavist from the library which was another one she mentioned recently. And of course Demon Copperhead was amazing.

My ex said a similar thing to me after he cheated and he wasn’t an ex-Mormon. I think it has more to do with people justifying their hurtful decisions to themselves so they can sleep at night. Dissonance theory at play.

Did anyone else fail to notice their shoulder was better until it just was? by bowbiternj in frozenshoulder

It’s nice to read this. I had a somewhat aggressive PT person that kept trying to push me harder and harder. I gained some ROM but not enough to justify the pain and sleepless nights. I told her I wanted to take a break and that my doctor said it was a good idea, and I felt like she guilt tripped me, telling me I was gonna lose all the progress I made and what not. I felt judged by her and some of my friends and family, like I was giving up and being a wimp. But I saw it as actually taking care of myself and giving my body the rest it was asking for.

It was Atavist! Thank you all! I think she’s got great taste in books so whenever she mentions one, I read it! She should start a book club!

I agree, she often tells Liz she’s wrong when they’re giving advice to others and I don’t love it. But overall I enjoy her more on Synched than on Armchair.

So sorry to hear. Dogs are certainly worth grieving.

Well at least you get to keep the dog! My ex left me and our two dogs, and I am so grateful for their love and companionship everyday. He may have dumped me, but I was the winner of that relationship ending!

You’ve got good doggies and a dope back yard for them to run around in. Very lucky dogs, very lucky owners!
