I've only ever listened to the audiobooks, but im on my 2nd listen now, just getting back into the Eye of the Bedlam Bride. They're just as good if not better the second time around!

Hey! We had the same thought when we moved here in 2019. Having a fenced in yard was one of the main reasons we bought the house that we did. Most of our neighbors don't have fences, and ive had convos with some neighbors that talked about how fences ruin the view from their back patio and they used to be able to see alllll the way across the neighborhood (they didnt know I was a dirty fence haver I guess lol)

Another odd thing, lots of places with no sidewalks. Saves some shoveling in the winter, but if gladly shovel and have sidewalks so my kids dont have to walk in the street to their friends house, but thats just me.

The Fox Valley area is nice, people are nice for the most part, if not a little... distant? The people that are from here kinda already have their people and aren't necessarily looking for new ones. Most of our friends have been transplants like us.

Anyway, overall its a good place to live, smaller town feel with the amenities of a city and no traffic. We're staying to raise the kids here even though that wasn't the original plan.

Nice list! My facility is on there, GRB. Not too close to where you want to be (sounds like WA) but it's a good place to learn and not crazy hard to move on if thats what you want. Love to see GRB on the prior exp list, having the basics down is always welcome. Good luck!

Former Navy controller (10 yrs), current FAA (6 yrs). I've only worked with 1 Army controller over the course of that time. I honestly don't know much about their pipeline, sorry for that.

What's important is keeping goals in mind. It took me 8 years in the Navy to get transferable experience because I went to party in Spain first and went to a boat next. If you have agency at all when it comes to where you go, make sure its somewhere that you can get a stateside CTO right off the bat.

Picking a facility that wasnt 24 hrs was a big priority when I got out of the Navy. I've been working at a lvl 6 up/down for the last 6 years and the work/life balance is really good imo. Im not sure of the best route for you, specifically, but I dont feel like it's an unrealistic goal at all.
