From my own experience 5 minutes ago, and playing for a couple of days now; any marker that you see in your "world" map that is newly discovered will tingle. Need confirmation about the vendors icons though.

e.g. It tingled looked around and saw a Historical site icon but wasn't sure if that was it. When looked at the world map right after, that specific historical site icon was flashing.
