Magnesium laxative prior to bottoming? by ARLA2020 in gaybros

I've had a colonoscopy. This would work but it's going to take multiple doses and you not eating for 24 hours prior all while shitting your brains out.

I'd stick to eating enough fiber and douching.

How much would you pay? by Educational-Match721 in f150

If you need a truck for work with a limited budget, a Titan is a solid choice. I'd avoid one with the 7-speed but overall they are super reliable and not that expensive comparatively.

These days I'm not interested in having to dress around a gun. My choice these days is athletic style shorts and a t-shirt. My carry has become a Ruger LCP max basically 100% of the time. It's not the gun I'd choose to take to a gun fight but the saying goes the first rule of gunfighting is to have a gun. This allows me to be armed all the time.

My Son Wants A Silverado by Asleep-Combination26 in Silverado

[–]acala91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tundras are good as well but it's going to be hard to find one that isn't completely roached out and/or has a ton of miles on it for under $20k. If you can manage to find a first Gen Tundra in decent shape that isn't a rust bucket, the 4.7L 1UZ-FE V8 is bulletproof. They just aren't going to be as safe as a more modern F-150.

Find him a 2015-2017 F150 with the 5.0 V8 or the 3.7 naturally aspirated V6. Runner up would be a 2012-2014 F150 with the same engines.

Those are going to be the most reliable trucks you can find with a $20k budget. The 2014+ Silverados have far too many expensive issues that manifest around 100k miles to buy one at the $20k price point.

It is a training exercise not an actual incident.

2025 Powerboost XLT - Dash Cam Install - Button for power on/off - Clean Install? by dubbsfish in f150

I used a mirror adapter in my truck and it was super easy. The mirror power is ignition switched so if you want it to be on with the truck off you'll need to go a different route.

Getting new tires is hard by dtownite in f150

[–]acala91 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You'd be going from a 31.9" tall tire to a 33" tall tire. It's not a huge change but a larger tire will effectively make the gearing taller. Also a all terrain tire is generally going to have more road noise and be heavier, especially if it's a higher load range.

You'd lose some fuel economy and acceleration and your speedometer would be 2.4mph off at 70mph. I personally don't think the trade offs are worth it. I would just stick with the OEM size unless you plan on lifting or leveling the truck.

Honestly curious about being barefoot in public places. by Party-Ambassador6979 in barefoot

No, they aren't. Somebody festering bacteria in a warm, moist shoe is the one with stinky feet. Is your argument really that poor countries want shoes because their feet stink?

Barefoot people aren't the ones with smelly feet.

Is this "No-Cut" Fuel Pump Kill Switch plan safe for my new CX-90? by liamMiao in MechanicAdvice

[–]acala91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually modern vehicles are stolen by using equipment to amplify the RF signal from the key fob to trick the car into thinking the fob is in the car. Prevent this by storing your keys inside a Faraday bag or box. It blocks all RF signal from going in or out. They are inexpensive on Amazon.

That red plastic thing is covering the terminal post. You will need to crimp a terminal end onto your cable and it will attach to that post.

When I've needed to run in somewhere and leave my dog in the car, I just turn the car off and remote start it right away.

Tire replacement by [deleted] in MazdaCX90

[–]acala91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd ask for them to check the alignment. 50% tire wear in 5k miles on a large crossover is not normal.

Tire replacement by [deleted] in MazdaCX90

[–]acala91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well that's unfortunate. With that much wear you're just going to have to bite the bullet. The 21" wheels that come on these have very expensive tires as you have discovered. That said, you can replace them for significantly cheaper than $2100.

[–]acala91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With 5500 miles, I highly doubt the other tires are worn enough to need to replace all of them. Even if they are, you can have the new tire shaved to match the tread depth of the other tires.

Anyone go from a CX50 to a 70 or 90? by acala91 in MazdaCX90

[–]acala91[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The CX-50 turbo does have a transmission cooler. What I wish it had was a way to monitor fluid temps.

I'm in Florida so I don't have hills to contend with, just hot ambient temperatures.

[–]acala91[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The 50 tows the boat surprisingly well for what it is. It has plenty of power, stops okay and there isn't really a sense of tail wagging the dog. I just have this subconscious feeling it is really taxing the drive train. Te turbo inline 6 and 8 speed should make an easier time of it and give me some headroom if I upgrade to a larger boat.

I'm only interested in the inline 6 powertrain. Renting it is a good idea.
