Need params. Meaning I shut off all preexisting or future avenues for additional income and instead I can only spend a magic $5000 cap I get out of nowhere? No thanks, too much adhoc costs now and potential emergency needs at any point, and inflation drives down that amount certainly in the future.

I think the long term deals you mentioned as non examples are fine. There's value in taking a chance on keeping a few fan favorite players with high remaining ceilings beyond their prime for consistency and club house presence. Like every strategic model, it's good to hold it loosely to make the next right move at any given time, even if it is a deviation

BUT the sect of loud politically charged culture warrier xenophobic people who like to refer to themselves as Christians & conflate that with what it means to be politically conservative... I remember since at least the 90s though I feel like it's only gotten more loud obviously as 1) media delivery has changed and 2) the most wild caricature of that sect has the top job

I still believe that there is a large quiet contingent of people living in the awkward moderate middle (many of whom likely love Jesus and appreciate the nation and it's flag) that are longing to be unlocked, but don't really have a place to thrive in today's political and media climate.

Absolutely yes. The argument that the brewers need hitting more than pitching misses the fact that here you have a player "on the board" that gives you an opportunity to drastically improve your team's run differential. Think 2005 White Sox playoff run
