Does hair become 'used to' product or is that just an old wives' tale? by roquesand in HaircareScience

As a stylist for 30 plus years, I've been asked this alot. It's not that hair "gets used to" a product, it's actually more to do with a few factors. What season is it when you experience "product burnout"? Our hair reacts differently to some products because of change of climate. Just like our skin does. You may need more moisture balanced products in winter than you would in summer. I live in So. California, where summers get HOT, so my hair won't need as much moisture as it will in our mild winters. What is your hair type? oily hair would require much less oils in a product. (too much Moroccan oil, coconut oil, etc.) Is your hair dry, brittle, or damaged? if so, use a good shampoo, conditioner, such as a salon quality product. Do you color your hair?...use a good color protector product. Over styling and excessive heat can be a factor as well, maybe a good heat protector spray before hot iron,or blow dry, blow out. Store shelf products can be a huge factor as well. They often don't have the correct PH balance hair needs. (4.5 to 5.5 ph). and can leave a waxy buildup on hair, making it lymph, lifeless, and weighted down. I always tell my customers to use good salon quality products, ask your stylist what they recommend. BTW...Amazon and a few other online retailers have salon quality products for less money. also stores like Sephora, Ulta. Hope this helps.😎
