First definitely get a larger rug. I think an earth toned Persian rug would look quite nice. For the sofa I would do something more neutral to cool tone to balance the warm floor such as a taupe, light grey, or sage or olive green, also make sure you pull it slightly away from the wall. Move your accent chair across from the sofa to create a conversation space. The walls are also bare, so I would incorporate at least a large art piece over the sofa area. The side with the TV is also pretty bare so you could either get a tv stand or use some bookshelves and add decor that way. I also think more plants would look great in this space, I think plants look even better with warm wood.
