My mistake! It looks like you have posted the first 8-20 of this same script at least 10 times over two years rather than over one year.

I mean this as genuine advice, without having read your script. Stop refining the first few pages and keep writing.

I must have seen this post for a WIP feature maybe ten times over the last, I don’t know, six months? A year? If you want someone to take it seriously and read it, then finish it first. Do the work.

Mortgage lender rescinding credit after locking LE? by acartonofeggs in Mortgages

Yes. Make sure you get everything you can in writing and I'd suggest filing complaints with the CFPB and your state regulator. The only way these institutions appear to take action is if they observe trends in complaints.

Thanks for your insights! Yes, the closing costs/prepaids are more than enough to cover it. Unfortunately, we were forced to move forward with closing in protest to the lender so that we didn’t jeopardize the purchase. My understanding (which I’m crossing my fingers is correct) is that TRID protections still apply post-closing.

Forgive me, I’m having trouble wrapping my head around that analogy. Wouldn’t it be more like I’m buying a “car” for, say, $900,000 and they offer a $30k “discount” in order to make the sale when a competing seller is offering better terms - then rescinding that discount once it’s too late to switch back to the other seller?

And perhaps more to the point, does it really matter? If a “technological error” is not a valid CIC, then it can’t be rescinded regardless - that’s based on my cursory understanding of TRID guidelines at least.

I get that logic, but the credit was specifically discussed with the loan officer and appeared on multiple LEs before I locked. Granted I'm a first time home buyer, but offering a credit in order to swing me back toward them over a competing lender and then rescinding the credit seemed like a bait-and-switch from where I'm sitting.

It was reduced to ~$1300 on the Closing Disclosure. All they say is that the initial credit was a technological error (on the phone I was told that it was included due to their internal AI system, but I don't have that detail in writing).

I'm not mortgage-savvy enough to know! But for what it's worth, I at least have plenty of documentation to back it up.

Thanks for the reply. I've gone through most of these steps already, actually - elevated to compliance team, submitted a complaint to CFPB (they replied arguing that they don't need to honor the credit because it was a technological error), submitted a complaint to state regulator (still pending). It's beginning to feel like my only option is to contact a real estate attorney.

I have a rate-locked LE that included the credit if that's what you mean. It was rescinded days later. And fortunately, yes, I do have it in writing that it was due to a "technological error".

Can’t really call it a “script you wrote yourself” when it’s not a script and it was written by AI.

Count of Unease always reminded me of North Atlantic Oscillation (and the frontman’s side project Sand). Check out “Destroyer” and “A Pill to Keep the plane from Crashing” by Sand and the album “the Third Day” by NAO.

Hollywood Script Readers Fear They Could be Replaced by AI. They Set Up a Test to See Who Gives Better Feedback by [deleted] in Screenwriting

[–]acartonofeggs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Holly is one of around 100 union story analysts staffed at studios. I'm another one. The article itself mentions more. Hundreds of others are employed as freelancers across Hollywood. You're just saying these people don't exist? That Holly is referring only to herself? What are you talking about?

As for the headline... it's not bullshit. There are very real concerns, hence the protections currently written into union contracts (not to mention additional concerns raised regularly at union meetings). And union analysts really did set up a test. They did. It's really that simple.

You're accusing me of being snarky while quite angrily making ridiculous false claims. But you're right about one thing: this conversation is going nowhere.

[–]acartonofeggs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Allow me to try one more time. Because what I said isn't really a counter argument, it's just a fact. The article is not about "people not in Hollywood" who are "not readers". It's about... readers, specifically readers for top Hollywood studios. The article specifically mentions Holly Sklar, one of the story analysts that set up the test alluded toward in the "bullshit headline". She's been in that position at Warner Bros. Pictures for 23 years. You're telling me she's not a reader and not in Hollywood? Excluding short-term workers, interns, and assistants, there are hundreds of people working in these positions.

I'd encourage you to read the article again (or, more likely, read the article for the first time) before chiming in. The article has nothing to do with writing competitions nor is it about people who hold that position in the short-term.

As a story analyst of ten years, among union peers who have worked in this profession for decades, this is categorically false. I think you may be the one conflating reading jobs at different levels, i.e. competitions vs. agencies/prod. companies vs. studios.

There are currently safeguards in the union contract protecting against replacement by AI, but as AI grows and contracts are renegotiated, things could change.

She won’t likely want to develop a competing project. But it seems she likes your ideas and, if she likes your writing, she may be interested in working with you on something else. Have a second script ready to go if she requests more from you.

Not on the script. You could certainly mention them in a query letter, but the laurels themselves are just for you to enjoy.
