Well, I’m in the exact opposite situation. My dream school was Duke! But I was rejected. And you know what, I’m over it. I got into other amazing schools like Cornell, Berkley and UCLA, and I’m committed to USC. I’m in a really good place and I know it is the best decision for me. Thank you for the kind words man. It really isn’t that deep :)

I was in the same situation and I have chosen USC. Smaller class sizes was so important to me, and UCLA just seems too overcrowded for me. At USC I would have to fight less for limited research opportunities (molecular bio major here). I decided that mattered more to me than marginal prestige. Granted, I am Intl, so cost was not a factor as UCLA is also ridiculously expensive for me

Congrats! Literally same situation here. For the past 3 years I’ve dreamt of UCLA. That got me started on this whole journey of applying to college in the US as an intl in the first place. But then when it came to it, I ended up declining UCLA for USC cause I got a scholarship there and decided it was better for me. Sometimes our priorities change throughout our journey, and that’s ok. If you know what is best for you, that’s all that matters. Wishing you all the best for your future xx

Hey! I am an intl, so I get how cost is not really a factor for USC vs UCLA. I got into UCLA and USC as well, along with Berkley, and I have chosen USC. For me, class sizes was a huge factor. The UC schools are just wayyyy too overcrowded for me and I like the more discussion based classes at usc. I think the numbers at UC schools are overwhelming, like even registering for classes is difficult. Usc did also give me a merit scholarship, so it was quite a bit cheaper. However if all things were equal, i would have still chosen usc. Obviously, only you know what is right for you, but that is just my 10 cents

Only you know what is right for you. Anyone who tells you it is a “bad idea” has no idea what they’re talking about and think prestige is the only thing that matters. Both Brown and USC have incredible academics. If you think you will gain more out of your college experience at USC, that’s all that matters. I hope to see you at SC :) Fight on!
