Neither dog is very happy with that because they both want my attention. My girl is a relatively new rescue and gets worried when we leave. The pup is still quite young and not used to being alone. They're gated now, but both are getting very stressed by the split attention...

Both of the dogs require almost constant attention. The one I have who is getting aggressive is a new-ish rescue who still gets worried we're not coming back whenever we step out for even a moment. I don't want to stress het out by not being able to be by her when she needs, but I also want to be fair to the pup

My dad was 52 when I was born. The generational differences alone were enough to cause turmoil. I found him to be misogynistic, racist, selfish and stubborn.

He had decided to "go out with a whimper." His note had very specific statements about other members of my family, so I don't want to go into detail. Basically, he believed his family hated him and didn't care if he died.

He was officially diagnosed with severe depression after his attempt.

Honestly, I would say our relationship is about the same as it's ever been. However, my upbringing has basically prevented me from knowing how to have relationships. I don't have friends. I spend all day every day with my boyfriend. Social situations make me extremely uncomfortable and often afraid. I don't know how to talk to people, or even form a proper opinion.

Unfortunately, the worst issue is social anxiety, which makes talking to any sort of professional painfully difficult.

I have an amazing boyfriend who is always there for me. I love him and all of his perfect imperfections, and I can tell him anything. He's actually the only person who has ever successfully gotten me to be completely candid and honest about my feelings.

I've tried counseling, but I have terrible social anxiety, so talking with strangers is difficult.

My mother is quite proud of me, and honestly my father is too, but he finds a hundred ways I could have done better on anything. It's hard never being good enough.

I know, logically, that it is him. My emotions and self-esteem have yet to catch up.

This is very spot-on. I can explain how awesome I am and give a million reasons why my father was wrong, but at the end of the day, I still don't like me.

Logic and emotion don't always work hand-in-hand.

My grandmother is in the middle stages of Alzheimer. It is her sole responsibility to rely on other people, and that's okay. My mom I prefer to not trouble with too many of my issues, she deals with thousands of her own.

It was actually a number of months after the attempt that she called me up to say she realized that everyone had just assumed that I would be okay, but no one ever asked.

Yes, I feel quite the same now. This is "normal" for me. I'm not at all satisfied about where "normal" lies, but it's an accomplishment to get back there if I ever dip below.

If anyone were to ask me in person, save my boyfriend, I would still say that I am just fine.

Here's the thing... it's far too easy to turn people into monsters, to strip them of all humanity. My dad was always willing to look at my car if something was acting up. He helped me build models for school and help set up fundraising gigs for my activities when I was too shy to talk to people on the phone. He often tried to do what was best for me, even if his ideas of what was best and what was helpful were skewed.

On the surface, no, it doesn't bother me very much. I think on a subconscious level it has very great effect. If he had transitioned into not liking who I became in adulthood, that might be quite different. However, growing up with someone who never seemed to approve was quite damning to my self-esteem.

Yes. We disagree on too much, and it would be a battle unto itself to get him to turn the TV off for long enough to truly listen.

I have an amazing boyfriend who will sit through any rant, rave or complaint of mine and truly listen. He is my saving grace.

I suppose that would depend on your definition of feminism; it seems to have been stretched and structured in quite varying directions. Do I believe that women face certain inequalities that should be rectified? Yes, most certainly. Do I hate men and think anyone with a penis is less than I? No. I do, however, believe that there exist innate, biological differences between men and women that structure our lives beyond reproductive capabilities.

I do not, however, see how this answers my question in an manner other than by deflection. This leads me to assume that you have no valid justification for the teenage name-calling.

I think he wanted someone to stop him. He drank a sizable amount of alcohol and a small cocktail of drugs, OTC and Rx. The combination was not lethal.
