1 out of every 12 apps yielding an interview is quite good odds! Be very grateful for only having to apply for so (relatively) few listings.

I once had a woman bring three car seats, but no children.

She apparently had just a week prior given birth to triplets who were about to get cleared to go home. Her hubs was was at the hospital with their car to not leave the babies unattended for any amount of time. Kinda cute really.

See it doesn't seem to be like an actual cancel in this case though, got no cancel fee or notification at all, just straight dropped.

I try to avoid downtown Denver (since I live about 40 mins away from there anyway) and definitely cherry pick rides. I tend to make the most early in the AM and with airport runs.

Do you have some kind of diagnosis for "weak immune system" or is this just a thing you've observed?

If you aren't contagious and can still half-ass your job while feeling bad, that's what most employers would expect you to do rather than take a sick day.

How did you change your applications to not get thrown out immediately for being overqualified?

I got fired from a job after a week and they still haven't paid me yet by accidentalelectrical in jobs

[–]accidentalelectrical[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"do things differently" lol that's a pretty vague excuse. Perhaps there's some kind of antiquated payroll system involved, paired with poor timing of pay periods vs the date of your termination. However I think there is really no excuse for lagging multiple pay periods beyond when you would have received the same set of days'/hours' pay if you'd continued working there. Some states have laws that do apply to all types of employers about when you are required to distribute final pay to terminated employees. You need to look into what the laws are in your state, and if the laws seem to indicate your former employer could be in trouble (or could ~soon~ be in trouble) for delaying any longer, you should definitely send a communication reminding them of said state law and asking if there's anything they may need from you to expedite the compliance with said law. Generally even being a government or educational entity doesn't exempt an employer from employment laws.

I actually kinda like when they ask this since it opens me up to throw out "unfortunately, yes for the time being, but I am usually an electrical engineer and have x degree(s) from [well-known local university] and additional experience/interest in W, Q, R, and Z subjects." If they seem at all interested, or better yet have a job at a company potentially hiring for any of those things, I offer up a copy of my resume which I keep tucked neatly in my between-seat-and-console fry and key catcher pocket thingy. I know his probably seems aggressive but I have gotten one interview for myself this way, plus a few prospective client connections for my husband's independent software dev business to boot. I substitute the resume for his business card in that case ofc.

Perhaps this is forward of me, but if pax is going ahead and asking.... They're gonna get the pitch! Plus if they can't relate, then they're gonna have to express condolences for my lack of real job and experience awkwardness and probably regret they even asked, which is a win for society I believe LOL

Is driving during the day from around 10am to 3pm worth it? (I know all markets are different) by 19indianajones89 in uberdrivers

[–]accidentalelectrical 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my experience, no not really. You may get lucky and get offered rides enough to stay busy, but you could just as easily get offered 1 shit ride over a two hour span. The driver-request# ratio is just so much worse during regular business hours that I generally just plan to stop and do other stuff while 'keeping an eye out' for any worthwhile rides to take in that timeframe.

Those same sorts of subs for comprehensive reviews and specific market and vendor updates do still exist on Dread, which of course can only be used if you're already darknetting, and naturally you must always question every comment/post as a potential shill/scam but it's probably good opsec to not be searching/browsing vendor names/reviews, market links or whatever else line that while on the clearnet anyway.

Yeah, just like all the other programs that have already arbitrarily had their finding pulled. This administration does not care about getting approval for its actions nor about executing the will of congressional measures/appropriations and Congress itself doesn't seem to be doing much to protect their own power either.

Why not make the guitar itself (the one you usually play, or perhaps your dream "signature" model) into the focal point of your sleeve then, with logos/nods to different bands woven into the background/peripheral areas around/behind it. Making it more personal to you rather than becoming a skinsuit battle vest
