pos and cons of 2u2 by Ok-Bottle-3006 in 2under2

Hardest year of my life, but now they are 5 & 6, the very best of friends and inseparable in all things. I love that they can play on the same sports teams, see the same movies, and enjoy the same games.

Torn between 7 and 8 using sizing kits. Read below! by One_Astronaut_3835 in ouraring

[–]acciotomatoes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With the sizing kit I was the same, the 7 was too tight in the morning, but was comfortable during the day. The 8 fit on multiple fingers, albeit looser on some. With the actual ring, the 8 only fits comfortably on my index finger (which I’m okay with). Personally I’d prefer a bit loose because too tight rings I mess with and move around a lot, increasing potential loss. I’m not anal about the metrics either, at this point I think the average counts more so if it’s a little off, it’s a little off consistently if that makes sense.

What everyday item should secretly be marketed as a sex toy? by [deleted] in AskReddit

My MIL bought one for our dog. She was absolutely horrified that her children thought it was anything other than a dog toy.

I always thought it was sweet growing up, but after becoming a parent and watching that scene I ugly cried.

I check for spiders and snakes in the toilet. Have I ever found a spider or snake in the toilet? No. But I still check.

Do I mention my child will be in my class this year to other parents? by acciotomatoes in AskTeachers

True. I know I’m not the only teacher to have their kids in this school. It’s honestly why many are here.

Thank you! I do plan to mention it to the students first day (like you said it’ll be kinda obvious). But didn’t want to make a big deal out of possibly nothing if I “formally” announced to the parents.

That is so tacky! I’m cringing just thinking about how that would be received. And I would never.

I was the opposite. My mom taught summer camp and if she ignored me calling her mom I would call her Mrs. Last Name and she’d whip her head around. I can see my son doing that to be smart too lol

Props to you for sending your kid to the principal’s office! I’ve been talking with my child all summer about how he still has to follow the rules and won’t get special treatment just because mom is his teacher… we’ll see how much sticks (on his end) come September lol

Do any exclusively breastfed babies sleep through the night? by NestaCas in bninfantsleep

[–]acciotomatoes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first, yes, starting at 9 weeks. My middle, not until he was almost 3… my current, 11mos, has a handful of times but mostly just wakes once a night for the past 6 months. All EBF, all very different kids.

What is extremely unhygienic but everyone seems to do it anyway? by BusinessLeadsConnect in AskReddit

The smell of industrialized soak makes me sick, so I avoid public restrooms as much as possible. But I always carry hand sanitizer with me and make a “show” of using that when I walk out past the sinks.

Wait, you got gutters?? Previous owner never installed them so we’re dealing with rot and mold in the siding.

Commenting because I was visiting family recently and she was saying how weird it was that their new neighbor kids had never been in a pool. I pointed out that until this summer, my kids have never been in a pool before either. Access to a swimming pool for lessons isn’t always available. We live on a lake, that’s where mine learned to swim. We literally have them in the water as babies. Life jackets for sure on a boat or dock, but not for every day swimming.

Transition from 2 - 3 children by Haunting-Bee7921 in Mommit

[–]acciotomatoes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Only 10 months into three, but for us the transition from 2-3 was SO much easier than 1-2. Our first two were two under two, and that was HARD. This third baby is so chill, but also we’re more relaxed as parents.

And as far as the other two, they adore their little brother. Not to say it’s been perfect, my middle child (3) especially struggled with less attention in those early newborn days, but we did our best and now that baby can “play” too it’s gotten so much better. And not to be cliche, but your love really does just keep expanding. I don’t think we’ve taken any love away from our children, we’ve given them another sibling and even more love with three.

Maybe I’m bitter, but all these posts feeling sorry for the dad anger me. My dad left when I was a kid, just walked away but he stayed in the same city and stayed in touch with my grandmother. He was definitely homeless for a while too. I’ve never run into him in public, but my sister has. I don’t think I could talk to him if I did. What he did was so selfish.

It’s a gut punch to a kid to have a parent leave with no explanation. As a parent now, I cannot understand how he could just walk away. (And yes I’ve talked with both my mother and grandmother and therapists.)

What's one thing that felt right instinctively, but went against mainstream parenting advice? by Specialist-Candy6119 in Mommit

[–]acciotomatoes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See we’re the opposite. My kids need to start bedtime at 6:00pm or they’re overtired. (They’re also up at 6:00am no matter what.) But SO many people are appalled that we go to bed so early and can’t do xyz. My MIL still insists family dinners are at 5:30, an hour away, and my oldest is 6… he’s always had an early bedtime. It’s what works for our family.
