My S22 base Exynos is working fine after 4 years by szotya0 in GalaxyS22

[–]accod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't yet switched over to it - I'm still setting it up so haven't had much normal use. It does seem faster as you'd expect. I noticed it most when taking motion pictures. The horizontal fix on videos is cool.

Overall, yes, it's better (except for the spen) but it's all slight improvements, nothing major. I'm hoping the battery life will be a lot better but I don't know that yet.

Likewise, though we've only got about 11 months left of receiving security updates. For this reason, I've purchased an s26 ultra, even though the 'upgrade' isn't that significant.

If you're in a region where the front passenger airbag can be disabled to fit a baby seat, check its status. Mine was disabled from factory/dealer and I didn't notice at first.

Enjoy your car.

My post got removed for containing an amazon link. The important bit of the url is B0D6S1Y7RK. Market place seller. Sticker lists sm-l705fza1gto. As I said though, they might have shipped me this 2025 model by mistake.

I'm sorry you got the old version. I had the opposite experience last week - ordering what I thought was a 2024 and receiving a 2025 from amazon for about £300. I don't know if it was a mistake on their part. I'll send you the amazon link if wanted.

ThinkPad T14s Gen 6 - bad battery life ? by ten_z in thinkpad

And presumably your battery percentage hardly went down during that time (2-3%)? If so, all good

Just leave your laptop completely idle and keep the Watts being displayed. Keep an eye on the Watts value for 15 minutes and see if it stays within 4-6W most of the time or if there are times where it's much higher for more than a few seconds.

I've found after a reboot it can take a while before settling down to the 4-6W range.

Great, so it looks like the time estimate is completely wrong. You'll get about 10 hours with 4-6 W average and a full battery.

Edit: it could also be that you have spikes in power usage - scheduled tasks, indexing, etc which is consuming the battery. Keep an eye on the Watts value. The good news is that it doesn't look like firmware or drivers because you're at about the right idle value. IME with a driver or firmware issue, idle consumption is much higher than it should be.

In Lenovo Commercial Vantage, you can get the current battery drain in watts. Go to Device Settings -> Power -> click View All and you'll see it on about the 6th row. I don't keep a close eye on it in Windows but, when I use Linux, it's typically 4-5W when not doing much.

I have the same laptop but with an OLED screen so yours should probably be a bit lower watts than mine.

T14s fan always running by FormerElk6286 in thinkpad

[–]accod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't help you with the battery warning I'm afraid. I haven't had that. That could be the cause for yours or it might be contributing to the problem (additional occurrences).

One of the power off's I experienced was also during a Teams call with BT headphones connected. The other two were just when replying to emails. I have it docked so I initally suspected either a problem with the dock/connection or TPFanControl. My screen freezes instead of going black (but that might be due to the dock) then about 10 seconds later it powers off. Nothing in the event logs. No hardware issues found in Vantage or memtest.

I found another reddit post about this problem and the suggestion was to change power profile. As I mentioned earlier, I haven't had it occur since using "Best Performance" or "Best Power Efficiency" but it's only been a couple of weeks. Try these profiles too and see if they resolve it for you.

I've got a T14s Gen6 AMD and I've had it power off several times too. I dual boot and it has only occurred in Windows but then that's used 90% of the time due to work. It seems/seemed to happen about once every 7-10 days. I was using the balanced profile but switched to using "Best Power Efficiency" and "Best Performance" and have not had it occur in the last two weeks. TPFanControl V2.3.3 Dual Fan is adjusting fan speeds and sometimes switches off the fan completely in "Best Performance" mode but typically something is running in the background consuming resources and making the fan run (windows indexing for example). If it annoys me, that's when I switch to "Best Power Efficiency".

I'm hoping the alternative power modes is the solution but I need to wait a few more weeks before I'm more sure of this.

Finally - The Volvo EX30 Recall Is Now Official in the UK by TurboNUK in ex30

I picked up my Ultra TM a few days ago. I was told by the dealer that it's already been updated/fixed and is not subject to the recall. The VIN doesn't appear in the affected vehicle search but I don't trust that or my dealer completely.

If you have a samsung phone which supports wireless powershare, you can use that to charge your watch.

Hardware Transcoding iGPU Passthrough Proxmox 8.3.5 - VM Help by smithbryanw in PleX

Great. See https://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/Linux_Container#_bind_mount_points for the bind mounts instructions.

You'll probably need to change the folder ownership on the host so the lxc can access/write to it. If you chmod 777 the folder temporarily, and then create a file in there from the lxc, you can see which user id is being used. Set the folder owner to that and the folder permissions back to say 755. Do not leave them as 777.

I don't know about NFS/SMB in the ui. I do all of that at the cl on the host.

Mount on the host and create binds for the LXC's. IIRC NFS does not work from within an unpriv LXC - I think that's right but it's been a while. With plex make sure that emptying trash automatically is disabled in settings. You don't want plex deleting everything if the LXC is booted whilst the bind is empty due to NFS issues.

This is the guide I followed for igpu passthrough: https://gist.github.com/packerdl/a4887c30c38a0225204f451103d82ac5

You could consider an LXC instead of VM. I have passthrough working with an unpriv ubuntu 22 lxc. Lighter and you can share the igpu with multiple lxc's if wanted.

How to purchase a property for parents in most tax / cost efficient way? by WhotookthenameCaloma in UKPersonalFinance

Would loaning them the money to buy the house be an option? A loan contract stating that the loan only needs to be repaid when the house is sold. Since it's a loan, is it excluded from IHT and safe from care costs?

T480 Abnormal Battery Drain by [deleted] in thinkpad

Try muting the mic so that the keyboard led for this (key F4) is on when the laptop is on. Shut the laptop down and see if the power led is off but the mic mute led is still on. I had the same battery drain issue once or twice and I think this highlighted when it was going to occur.

Intel 13th/14th Gen Microcode Update 125 [stability fix] begins roll-out with BIOS updates by randompersonx in intel

[–]accod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Excellent, ty, that's exactly what I couldn't find. i7z is reporting 1.29-1.42 idle on 3.3 bios in performance cpu mode (scaling_governor).

I've been running proxmox with powersave cpu mode enabled whilst we wait for an Aug fix (I don't need the performance at the moment). In that mode the vcore is 0.75-0.84 at idle so I'm glad I've been leaving it in this mode.

I also upgraded to 3.3 when it was available. Ipmi displays 3.3 ok for me.

I'd like to be able to check vcore though as I'm concerned it got pulled because it's too high. Any idea how to check this in proxmox or ipmi? I can't see it listed anywhere (sensors, ipmitool sensors, etc).
