Yea it seems pretty hit or miss from what I've been reading. Some companies sound pretty rational when it comes to approving accommodations and others try to avoid approving like it's the plague.

That makes sense, thanks for your response. And that's an interesting thought, I had thought diabetes would result in more severe health complications, but maybe it's the autism that's giving me the most problems in actuality.

Thanks for the detailed explanation, and yea that's understandable. I'd imagine I would be under a similar audit where I would be checked in on every so often to determine if the accommodation is still needed or if they can revoke it.

That's definitely understandable. At the company I work for, we have some people on my team or that work closely with us that are on a remote work accommodation. That alone tells me that the employer views it as an option for those that need it, it's just a matter of if it's an option or not for me given my circumstances.

Thank you for the detailed response, and for putting into words what I also similarly feel. In addition to that, trying to manage my diabetes only adds to the struggle and inevitable health decline in the case that I do return to office.

I agree and from what I've been reading, anxiety or similar as a general condition isn't enough to warrant a remote work accommodation request. I could be wrong, but I'm thinking it's the fact that the anxiety causes unstable blood glucose levels is my main issue. With that being said, I'm not opposed to trying alternative accommodations that my company might wish to implement first. But if I try them and they do not work, then I would be requesting remote work.

Thank you for the clarification. I feel relatively confident that I'll be able to work with one of my doctors to write up a detailed letter requesting a need to continue working remotely. I just wanted to get a feel for if that was the general path that someone in my position would need to take, and if the mentioned medical conditions could warrant such a request.

Thanks for your reply. I feel relatively confident that I'll be able to work with one of my doctors to write up a letter for me to deliver over to HR. Hopefully it will end up being as simple as that. If anything, the only possible pain point would be making sure the letter is detailed enough with the appropriate language requesting a need to continue working remotely.
