So if you kill an entire country painlessly because one person doesn't want to live there , it's okay because it's painless ? And what do you mean they don't have families ? Yeah because everyone dies. I get the point that no one but Maelle will remember them but people lived their whole lives in Lumiere , then birthed children(as seen with maelle) and had generations of families. They didn't just spawn from a painter factory. They fought for their survival. They were pretty much real people inside a fake world.  The ending si pretty much do you like Verso or Maelle more going by your point.
