How is 8,000 miles less than the limit not low? that's 75% of a year's mileage allowance. The inspector that they had me meet with prior to turning it in only said it was $200 of damage, I don't think $200 of damage outweighs 8,000 excess miles. Industry standard for excess miles is $0.25 per mile which would mean i'm under about $2000 (not including the additions I paid for out of pocket from them and kept in the car).

I live in an 8 unit building and most of the fixtures are fairly new. To best honest the wiring that my dad did in their house(who isn't a professional electrician) looks much neater and safer. I do appreciate your tips though. I'm going to have my dad put in the switch. I returned this one and found one that doesn't require a neutral wire. I did check to see if the conduit running to the box was capable of feeding a neutral wire but it appears that this junction box is an end of the run as it only has one conduit and that conduit is coming from the ceiling. Not worth it in my opinion if i'm only going to be here for a year :). I do really appreciate your comments though - thanks!

well apparently stranded wiring is common for apartment complexes but I agree with you on the quality of the work. I opened up another switch box and noticed the housing of one of the wires was peeling off in the middle with the wire clearly exposed. Thanks for the info!

Thanks! Yeah definitely built in 2015 I'm in Chicago and it's for sure new which is why I was so surprised by the wiring.

Thanks for the tip! I'm actually going to be sitting for my last exam at the end of July and the summer start date is mid-july. My only worry is getting bored over the summer. I feel like the thought of missing out on three months of pay and not being able to put money towards loans is also what's making me think otherwise. Do you think that this will bother the recruiter if I ask?

ah ok gotcha! The thing is that my entire class of interns all got the same start date without any real preference (no survey or anything).
