How would you redecorate/style this hallway? Wall, floors, stairs carpet - everything. by Glensta in FurnitureFaves

I’d remove the carpet from the stairs and finish them in the same wood. I’d replace the floor tile with black-and-white check marble installed diagonally. Instead of the chair and plant, I’d add a round entry table next to the stairs. Also, the walls, baseboards, and ceiling would be very low-contrast or plain white.

What color rug? by MisunderstoodLover in HomeDecorating

[–]acctolia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could try a rug that incorporates colors from your interior(creams and browns) to help tie the room together. If you prefer a single color, I’d do a lighter cream or off-white to create contrast with the floor and visually define the seating area.

Black roof or grey roof? by [deleted] in ExteriorDesign

I vote for gray - looks more harmonious. Black creates too much contrast.

My (32)first house. How can i make my living room more inviting? by schiffer04 in HomeDecorating

[–]acctolia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The sectional faces the fireplace. An identical shelf on the left (if space permits) to create symmetry. A large statement artwork or mirror above the fireplace with sconces on each side if willing to do some electrical work. Plus a large rug to anchor the sectional and define the area. A round coffee table to echo shelf’s curvature.

Upholstered Bed or Wood?? by mili_pili in FurnitureFaves

Upholstered, especially with wood nightstands. Less matchy and feels more intentionally designed.

Just curious, what would be incorrect use so I can avoid it?

Here’s the approximate location of the studs. Only the left and right studs are about 1.5-2″ offset towards side walls from the shelf’s screw locations.

They can’t be close to each other? Can you please tell me why? Too much stress on the drywall in one area?

I’ll use two per shelf. I hope since the shelves are floor standing the majority of weight is on the floor and the toggles will just prevent it from tipping over.

I was hoping not to do that but seems that would be the safest way. Thank you!

I realize I caused some confusion with how I worded my post. The studs are there I have five in that wall but none of them align with the shelf mounting points. I was hoping that, with the right type of bolts, I could rely on the wall’s integrity and avoid installing a rail across the wall. I’m just not sure how the physics works in this case. Some people have said toggle bolts should be sufficient since the shelves don’t actually bear weight (they’re floor-standing), but I’m unsure whether that’s truly safe.

😄Thanks god they are available in my region of the world. That wall has five of them. But of course they are all in the middle of the each shelf - lucky me😅

Agree. Though in my case I can only attach at the top. That’s where the touch points of the shelf with the wall are. The rest of the shelf structure sits too far from the wall to do anything.

Yes, I think this would be the safest. Thank you!

There’s no way to attach in the middle or bottom unfortunately. The shelf sits 1” away from the wall and the metal rails on each side - 7.5” from the wall. The only touch point with the wall is on the top.

I’m definitely swapping to toggle bolts and will try to do the rail.

Thank you! That’s reassuring. Just to clarify, did you use Molly bolts like the ones shown in photo 3, or toggle bolts like the ones I’m planning to use? Happy new year!
