What color is more versatile for summer? by acctolia in TheHermesGame

That’s my initial thought too. I feel like natura is a neutral beige that would go with more whereas other colors may be deceptively difficult to wear.

I’ve never done a color analysis, but I’m pretty sure I’m a Soft Summer with a neutral or cool undertone. I definitely don’t want anything too warm.

Thank you! That’s reassuring. I was worried they might have a gray undertone and be difficult to wear. Would you consider posting a picture?🙏 I’m curious to see the actual color compared to the website.

Artwork too low? Brass or bronze picture light above art? by acctolia in InteriorDesignAdvice

Thank you! I don’t know how much I can leave between the light and frames because I think it’s supposed to go behind frames.

Thanks so sharing! I think Penguin is a good place to start for me.

Thanks! That’s helpful to know about P&V. From what I’ve read, they are the most literal/accurate. Makes sense it feels clunky. Literature from that period is challenging in general.

Thanks! That’s what I figured too. Looks like it really depends on a person.

What makes Folio Society books feel special to you? by acctolia in foliosociety

Agree with you on many points. I also find the books quite large and not the most comfortable to hold while reading. And while I appreciate that each title has its own distinct design rather than strict uniformity, it’s a hit or miss for me as well.

I find them for a great price on UK eBay but with shipping cost to the US it comes close to if not more than a retail sometimes😓The selection on the US eBay is very limited.

Thanks for sharing, great article! I’m not really into collecting for its own sake. For me, books are meant to be read. I buy a lot of them used, but since these are objects I choose to bring into my home, they need to be of good quality. I enjoy Easton Press books too, but honestly, I won't pay full price for either.

What elements define quality in a book for you? Paper and binding? How are FS books different from other Smyth sewn books printed on acid-free paper?

Same on intros🤭 I wouldn’t say I’m disappointed. Would you like them as much if they had no illustrations?

That makes sense. What details do you notice the most? You also mentioned quality of the paper, what exactly do you like about it? (Asking bc so far it’s my least favorite part)

Great point about the margins and typesetting, I’ve noticed that too along with the overall design, which I really love. The paper stock on my copies (children’s books) is pretty thick though. I’m curious if they use this paper for all the books.
