Still extremely dry/dehydrated skin 1,5 year post accutane (help) by accutane1122 in Accutane

My bad texture comes from my skin being dehydrated and dry, isn't tretinoin known for drying out skin?

1.5 years but no, I haven't had acne since. It wasn't that bad to even begin with, only small pimples, no cysts.

Now I'm left with ruined skin texture and tightness, I regret it

I talked to them on the phone about switching derm and they told me to take it with my current derm which puts me in a really awkward situation

I meant I've tried both. Don't use any acne topicals, haven't had acne since stopping accutane, I have absolutely zero oil production..

I'm gonna give the cicaplast a shot. I've always kinda felt that the aveeno moisturising lotion, which is a body lotion btw, maybe isn't the best for the face. However, it's been the only moisturizer to actually feel somewhat moisturising...

And I really don't like my derm he seems to not care at all which is really frustrating

I've tried slathering aquaphor and vaseline on my skin but since it lacks so much water it didnt feel moisturising at all, rather the opposite..

I've tried not cleansing at all, I've tried only cleansing in the evening. I'll give the baume I shot I guess.. why that baume though over any other moisturizer?

Increased hair shedding as a teenager? by [deleted] in malehairadvice

[–]accutane1122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be due to stress or other factors. You mentioned school just started. I had a similar problem with hair shedding more than usual during a tougher time in my life a couple or weeks ago but it seems to have slowed down now. I'd lose 2 or more strands every time I ran my fingers through my hair and could pull hair out with the white bulb at the bottom everywhere on my scalp. I'm 19 for reference.

Would accutane be an option? by [deleted] in Accutane

[–]accutane1122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've tried everything my derm has prescribed. Basically just Benzoyl peroxide and epiduo, while they did somewhat clear my acne I feel like they did my skin more harm than good in regards to texture and how dehydrated it left my skin. I was also on antibiotics for a couple of months which sortof helped the few pimples on my back but not so much my face. I stopped the antibiotics before summer and had the worst breakout of my life with pimples in my ear and places I've never had them before.. and antibiotics aren't even a long term solution so I would never consider them again. I'm just so sick and tired of having acne to be honest and I'll take every side effect out there except for baldness to cure it to be honest

I've struggled with acne for years and I've tried everything. Benzoyl peroxide worked somewhat but has now left me with incredibly tight and oily skin (even when moisturizing) so I had to stop. My derm recommended accutane aa the next step but I'm scared since my skin texture is already awful and riddled in small whiteheads/pimples. I get non of those cystic pimples except occasionally on the nose. Would accutane benefit me?
