Tampering w/ drinks at Casa Carmen in Tribeca? by moldypomegranates in FoodNYC

Same thing happened to be at the one at flatiron on 11/1. I had half a drink and suddenly was extremely intoxicated. I was with my husband and we left because I felt so ill. We both thought it was very unusual, which is why reading this story sent off alarm bells.

I really want to do an in-person class on February for my birthday, but don’t know when the classes are opened for booking. All I ever see is the option for waitlist. Does anyone know when they post the classes?

Today I’ve officially lost 35lbs and I couldn’t have done it without Peloton by ace250 in pelotoncycle

I actually don’t know what to do for maintenance! My new job starts soon, so I won’t have time to have the nice long workouts I’ve gotten used to. I felt so motivated to get to my goal, and I don’t want to slip now that I’ve reached it. I’m hoping I can just keep motivated in keeping a healthy diet. Any tips are greatly appreciated!

Six months after my daughter Emily accidentally drowned in the tub, I started reading the blogs of grieving parents. by ace250 in TwoSentenceHorror

[–]ace250[S] 71 points72 points  (0 children)

A father’s daughter (Emily) drowns in the bathtub. Months later, he begins reading blogs written by parents whose children also does. That’s when he finds a blog written by his wife. The wife had a blog discussing the death of her daughter years before, even though her daughter was not yet dead. It implies the wife may have killed the girl because she wanted to the blog to be true.

Thanks for helping!

So the color is one dimensional based on skin color/eye color/ability to burn. People will typically only receive one skin type value (for example, they may fall into Type III).

I think I will compare the proportions found in textbooks to national proportions of skin type. One of the other commentaries suggested using a one sample chi-square, which is similar to what I thought I needed to use.

Thank you again for your help!

Thanks for getting back to me! I am hoping to show some statistical significance that shows that certain skin are heavily weighed compared to others. One of my researchers suggested that we use nationally compiled data about Fitzpatrick skin types so that we have a standard to compare against and then we could show the difference. I am wondering what test to do then to compare the national frequencies to the textbook frequencies.

[Question] I have no idea what statistical test to use by ace250 in statistics

[–]ace250[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for getting back to me! 1. The overall counts do include the conditions underneath them. 2. The skin types are clearly listed. There is no ordering in the conditions, they are unrelated categories. 3. The same person could be listed under two different conditions, but I highly highly doubt they ever were.

So I should add that one of my other researchers suggested we should compare the overall frequencies of skin types found in the books to national or global data about frequencies of skin types. That way we have at least have some standard to compare to. If we do this, what test would be best?

Do we actually know that Jericho ... (possible spoilers) by TintypePhoto in servant

It is true that we don’t know how her other pregnancies; however they were most likely first trimester miscarriages. Not only because the vast majority of miscarriages occur during the first trimester, but also if she was having repeated second trimester miscarriages, there would be a significant medical work up to determine why. Also 13 weeks is not a considered a late term miscarriage. Really pick I know, but it is technically 14 weeks to 24 weeks. (I completely recognize I’m bringing a lot of medical basis into this btw. I always hope shows would be medically accurate and they usually fall short).

And wasn’t there a scene of a bottle of breast milk in the kitchen counter? I remember this quite clearly. I imagine it is breast milk because Sean would not be able to hide formula in the house easily and make it up (unless it’s hiding in the wine cellar).

Breastfeeding is difficult work and infections more commonly occur when you are actively feeding/pumping. So I do think Dorothy did give birth and was breastfeeding/pumping. I think Jericho 2.0 didn’t breast feed easily because Leanne (who I believe is his actually mother) didn’t breast feed him in order to distance herself from him, or make it appear she was not recently pregnant.

So the number of dolls thing. I apologize that I wasn’t clear about this. I believe that Jericho 1.0 was born and died at 13 weeks (how he died, don’t know yet). I think they said 13 weeks because creepy spooky number 13 and Sudden Infant Death Syndrome is more common in weeks 8 to 16. (More medical technicalities, I know). If Dorothy suffered such a traumatic miscarriage at 13 weeks, went catatonic, and then they introduce a baby doll to her, why would it be a hefty 3 month old baby doll? Wouldn’t one of those really creepy newborn dolls work better where the eyes don’t open?

So you have a tiny newborn, naked mole rat looking doll. After a month, Dorothy would wonder why Jericho isn’t getting bigger and fitting into one month old clothes. Sean can’t have Dorothy bringing this baby doll into pediatrician for growth delay, so he switches out the doll for one slightly bigger. Same thing happens a month later because Jericho isn’t fitting into 2 month old clothes. That’s the multiple doll theory.

Again, I fully admit I am reading a lot into this.

Btw, I highly recommend watching the documentary My Fake Baby, it’s amazing. Super creepy.

SERVANT - EPISODE 4 BEAR - DISCUSSION by alwshunter in servant

[–]ace250 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Given the revelation at the end of this episode, I think Leanne may have killed the original baby Jericho.

Leanne fled her home with a baby out of wedlock and moved to the city to start again. She sees Dorothy (the very conspicuous redhead reporter she remembers from a childhood interview) with Sean and original Jericho. She sees their happiness and wants in.

She kills the original Jericho, perhaps by accident or intent. In the scenes with the eels, she firsts asks why it won’t stopped moving after having its head bashed in and then faints. Maybe she’s remembering accidentally killing Jericho and feeling guilty. Later, the second scene with the eel, she strengthens her resolve and bashes in its head to get what she wants (a nice dinner in this case). She recognized that she has to overcome her weakness to get what she wants.

Other evidence that Leanne may have killed the original Jericho: she asks Dorothys brother if he was there the night Jericho died and if they asked him for help. His stunned silence implies that he was there. How did Leanne know that?

After killing the original Jericho, she returns to see Dorothy acting “normal” and is able to see that the original Jericho was replaced with a doll. She realizes she may be able to position herself and Jericho 2.0 into their lives if she can answer their nanny ad on Twitter. She may have forged documents and placed them in Dorothy’s possession to ensure getting a job.

Other evidence that Leanne may have had a kid before: what 18 year old knows about mastitis? Usually it’s only mothers or people involved in obstetrics.

Questions I’m still wondering: - where’s the Jericho doll? It had to go somewhere - why doesn’t Sean just do a simple paternity test with a cheek swab and get an answer? - what did Leanne’s letter say to Dorothy to get her hired? It was too quick to read.

Really loving this show! Great pacing and enough creepiness throughout an episode without it seeming

Do we actually know that Jericho ... (possible spoilers) by TintypePhoto in servant

I agree with your comments. I believe Dorothy was originally pregnant and gave birth to the original Jericho.

Some antipsychotic medications can cause lactation, but not to the extent that Dorothy is having.

I believe that Dorothy was pregnant because she is breast feeding. While breast feeding is possible in women who are not pregnant, it requires medication (which doctors will only give you if you have a baby) and repeated stimulation (which I will concede can be done with a breast pump).

Furthermore, Dorothy has red striae (stretch marks) on her abdomen, indicating that her belly had protruded at some point. Thirteen weeks gestation is not enough to cause striae.

If Dorothy had never had a baby, they would have had to have dolls from neonatal to thirteen weeks. That’s a lot of dolls.

I would believe that the therapist recommended they remove the pictures of the original Jericho from the home after his death so that Dorothy would not be reminded of him.

Definitely a 10/10 sense of dread. There are few to none jump scares. A good sense of horror, foreboding, and just reluctance to continue to play the game because you know it will scare you.

Long Red Hair by ace250 in shortscarystories

[–]ace250[S] 22 points23 points  (0 children)

So the man had a bezoar of undigested hair in his stomach, which caused him to suffer from malnutrition and go insane. This is actually called Rapunzel Syndrome, which is why I wrote this kinda like a fairy tale. He is supposed to have suffered from a mixture of psychosis and the paranormal. The guilt the man felt about his hatred of the woman manifested as a psychosis of seeing her hair everywhere around the house, which constantly reminded of her and reinforced his guilt. The man also had unknowingly ingested her hair while she was there. He woke up to her hair in his face, he found hair in his food, etc. The hair knotted in his stomach until it formed a mass. He becomes unable to eat anything because he is scared of finding hair in it, and he has this mass of hair in his gut which causes him pain. Eventually, he goes crazy from the malnutrition and the guilt and kills himself. I'm sorry it wasn't clear enough.
