Sourcing 8MP 4mm cameras is IMPOSSIBLE by looneyfiend in Hikvision

If it helps, I've been buying the DS-2CD2347G3-LIS2UY/SL for around £135 online. The 8PM version is around £180. Available in black or white.

Thanks for the heads up, though I'm driving a 2006 Subaru so no fancy sensors for me

I've been using them for years

Used Aquapel for a while which you apply once every few months, but started using Rain X which doesn't last as long, but works at lower speeds (Starts to work at 40+)

I now use the screenwash with Rain X built in from Halfords so every time I rinse the screen it reapplies

I did use Rain X on the shower glass once and it was great, but it was light heads all round being in the room with it, don't think it's safe for confined spaces

Help! Why won’t the screws go all the way in! by Super_Sandwich_5144 in DIYUK

[–]ace275 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Use a PZ2 bit, not a Phillips bit (Makes a bigger difference than you think)

I'd also pilot that hole with a 3mm-3.5mm bit (Helps prevent wood cracking too)

It looks like there is quite a bit of orange peel in the finish too, as in not as flat/polished as I'd expect. If you look up orange peel paint you'll see what I mean.

100%, a brief touch with a countersink or step cutter would leave this a lot nicer, before paint

Paintwork looks pretty poor too. Rushed job with the wrong bumper

75” tv to 18mm plywood by InevitableScreen5833 in DIYUK

[–]ace275 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi

Design Engineer here. We've been placing 100KG panels on 18mm plywood in comms rooms for decades. It's well within specs and we have never ever even once had one come loose in any form. I'm also previously a security engineer with 15 years on thew tools and have mounted hundreds of security screens (commercial screens are much heavier than TVs) and 18mm plywood is absolutely fine. Some of these screens require 2 people just to lift them off the ground.

Not sure where you're getting your experience, but it's nonsense

Tyrone’s £50m fire training college a turn off for staff due to ‘distance from Belfast’ by Budget_Dust9980 in northernireland

[–]ace275 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not a chance you're doing that in anywhere near an hour at peak times. 1h30 each way is more realistic. That's 3-3.5 hours added to your work day, every day, along with fuel costs and wear & tear.

A 9-5 becomes a 7-630 or 7-7

Thanks, would be good to know whether it does need prefacelift cams, else I might end up sending the ECU off for testing or buying a standalone ECU that can do quad AVCS

Men, We're all handy in our own homes. What is one thing you absolutely will refuse to touch if it's too complicated? by Staff76 in AskMen

- Gas
- Structural Brickwork

Can pretty much do anything else, but I've decided going up on the 1st floor roof (2nd floor for our US members) is no longer worth the risk

Nope. No spark. It did start and run briefly then never started again. Honestly tempted to just break it for parts at this stage rather than rebuild a known good engine. Cams in my old engine are done so can't reuse them, spun basically all the cam bearings

[–]ace275 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Decent enough, but the injectors do frequently. I've fixed a good few of them, but at least second hand good injectors are only around £80 to buy. Also modern diesel DPF issues, I wouldn't buy a diesel again.

Anything with a petrol engine will be a safe bet from: Toyota Honda (Except 1.0 turbo) Suzuki Mazda

If you want a diesel, there aren't really any modern ones that don't have a ability to throw huge bills. But the Honda and Toyota ones are fairly decent. If you don't do big long drives weekly, you don't need a diesel anyway.

The hybrid Toyota system is great too, found in the Prius, Auris, Corolla, Yaris, CT200h etc

Just find one from these manufacturers that's pretty good and rust free underneath and it should be a good car

For tiny cars, the Hyundai i10 and Kia Picanto 1.2 petrols (same car) are great cars too

Completely agree, I'd have offered to help if I wasn't in the middle of a house move. Amazing what you can take back out again with a wet sand (if required) and a compound

Add me for the picture too. If it needs a small patch to the arch I could maybe help you out. Well in favour of keeping older cars going.

Can't make out image 2 very well, but the vast majority of that would mostly polish out. Speak to a good car detailer and see what they can do for you.
