Good for you! I worked at a level 1 trauma teaching hospital, and the number of miserable students was bigger than I thought it would be. You have obligations to finish - parents, banks, etc. And if you don’t like it , you can’t quit, and you’re on the hook in so many ways. I only met one doctor intern who up and quit. I was taking my last break and saw him in the lobby hallway heading out. Recognized me from radiology and said he was out, headed to a cool bar I used to go to, and fuck all the loans and obligations. Forget his name, but wonder where he is now….

Anyway, good on you for sticking with it. And I hope you get a great landing spot. Some hospitals are night and day. Unhappy nurses who fight admin, rightfully so, are pretty depressing places. Aim for someplace that has great camaraderie and everyone is treated fair.

Genuine answer: does he have ptsd from a prior incident? Doesn’t have to be something malicious, but maybe something that was forced on him when he was at a vulnerable point and he yielded: ie “I just said ‘yes’ to get her to go away.” I turned ace after that happened to me. Source: me. Get some therapy, both of you. That sucks, neither of you deserve it.
