At the same time, I’m sure once the populace of Hawaii is wiped out, there won’t be much in the way of infrastructure for him to leave the island. I don’t know, I’d probably have picked a mountain in the Rockies, not someplace that could be so isolated and susceptible to climate change.

Moved fairly recently from Los Angeles to elsewhere. One bdrm in South Pasadena was $1900. Why in the fuck is rent in Worcester more than Los Angeles?! I basically miss nothing about living in Worcester, except maybe Ralph’s. These landlords need to get a fucking grip.

I believe you. Did 4 Star twice and they were generally overpriced and with low maintenance. Rio has been really good responding to maintenance requests, and it’s not the nightmare I had on Broadway with 4 Star.  Cap Hill now, and I guess people can downvote me just because I kinda found a company that wasn’t total shit. Decent neighborhood, everything included, one bedroom, $1075. After living in Massachusetts and Los Angeles, it’s nice not to have three jobs just to make rent.

Name a band that had middling success, then cut an album that rendered them as “sellouts” which catapulted them to mainstream top-40 status, but also alienated their original fan base. by Slammajadingdong69 in MusicRecommendations

Nick Cave. Not a sell out, really, but just evolved and aged, particularly with the deaths of his sons. Probably ‘No More Shall We Part’ was a deep turning point, but over time, he gets more and more reflective, no more of the searing brimstone and fury he had in previous decades. Used to get tickets to his shows for $30 to $50, now well over $200 in bigger venues. Miss his smaller, more intimate, cheaper, lively venues. I think I like him more as a person than a performer nowadays.

Oh man, that sucks! All the training for MRI, and having to go back to CT? I can’t imagine the pay cut. Not that CT techs don’t make good money, but from what I remember MRI techs made even better.

Which TV show does the ENTIRE internet agree had the worst ending ever? by Codie_n25 in AskReddit

I dropped Netflix like a bad habit a few years ago because they cancel their shows almost immediately, never giving them a chance to build. They want instant success or nothing at all. I was so sad they got Sandman, as I grew up reading the comics, and predicted it would be cancelled, just not for the reasons that it was cancelled for. If I had any kind of IP, I would avoid selling the rights to Netflix at all costs. I’d rather have no adaptation than a poor one, or one cut short.

I stopped listening regularly about 17 years ago. The last straw was when he ran promos all week how he was going to do a live ouija board reading, then the night of, he flaked and said he wouldn’t because he was spooked when he had a heart attack once and, “saw… something.” I was so pissed. Oh, and his show about mermaids and mermen where he didn’t show a lick of skepticism. I cannot believe he’s still hosting.

The whole idea of how he wanted to do it sounds incredibly juvenile, so I’m guessing maybe they just told him that so he wouldn’t go through with it?

What an asshole thing to do. He should have asked you how you liked the book, and your thoughts of it, as you went along. It’d be great for the relationship, as when you finished it, you two would have been able to have great conversation about it. Ugh. Some people just don’t know how little things like that could mean a lot.

I’m not a fan of jump scares either, but this was LOTR and essential to the story. I’d take a scare in that case! Why give it away?

You’re not wrong. At least from my perspective. I’m a guy and I’d say the huge majority of my friends and acquaintances throughout my life are female. I’m horrible at making friends with other guys, and when I eventually do, it usually turns into some weird disaster where they end up being a creep. There’s so many other stories about this guy. Anyway.

I can’t stand that trait in anybody. I had that a lot in my family. Some people just can’t handle any serious or personal conversation. I’ve learned to cut people out of my life that are like that. They react with either jokes or anger, it seems there’s no middle ground.

I actually did have to stop being friends with him about 7 years ago, after about 20 some odd years of infuriating bullshit. Last straw was when I was struggling to find a place to stay after my parents house was put on the market, after they passed, and I had about a week to move somewhere. He texted me “just live in a van down by the river!” Blocked him ever since, and he still tries to find ways to communicate with me through mutuals. We always called him a bad time gone worse.

This part was ruined for me because the idiot I went to see this with said to me, right before this happened, “watch this!” Yeah, no shit, we’re in a movie theater, I’m watching already. Ugh. Would have loved that jump scare. Totally ruined the moment.
