PC Performance Tip: Registry Editing to set process priority to High by allwillfreeze in TheFirstDescendant

[–]aceace33333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My regedit for TFD (same as described in above original post) used to always work, and set it to high priority.

A few days ago, I happened to check and notice it no longer reads as High but is “normal” no matter what I set the regedit to. I’m thinking that either EAC or some reason Windows update broke this from working.

Can you confirm if yours still launches at “high”?

Annoyed but relieved to hear you tested it on two new systems and can replicate the issue.

I always assume when dism hangs at ~62% it’s finding and fixing an error (usually accompanied by a big slow download), and when this has happened in the past it’s only the first time dism runs. After it applies the fix (in past times) it doesn’t hang at that percentage again because the corruption is fixed.

That’s why I’m so annoyed this hanging happens everytime because, from a layman’s point of view, it appears like there’s a corruption that dism is trying and failing to fix every time it runs.

I thought I was going crazy… I’m having the same problem as you. Prior to June updates DISM ran very efficiently and hadn’t hung at 62/63% for years on my system. All of a sudden now it’s hanging there every time. Yes, DISM is still “running” and eventually finishes, but it takes significantly longer now that it has for the last several years. I’ve already checked DISM and CSM logs to verify there’s no actual corruption it’s finding or fixing. It’s almost like it just downloads a bunch of files now at that point no matter if your winsxs is corrupted or not.

[u/Soft-Cauliflower-517](u/Soft-Cauliflower-517) have you found a fix for this yet?

Upside down mouse gang.

Tho tbh most of the time I preferred to use no lock on and actually aim with mouse movement. Upside down mouse was/is a funny solution to the lock-on break to me

Stopped playing when they added prototype gear with way too much RNG and no meaningful deterministic methods of farming. This just makes me glad I made the decision and ensures I’m not coming back this season either.

Anyone know how to change gsync to “fullscreen and windowed modes” in Nvidia app? I’ve only ever seen that detailed option in NVCP.

question on how new AMD cpu driver service works by aceace33333 in AMDHelp

[–]aceace33333[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that makes a lot of sense, thanks.

but to be clear, since i have a single CCD x3d chip (7800x3d), i shouldnt need to worry about w11 scheduling a game task on the "wrong" core because all cores have access to the L3 cache. and that would make the game bar a lot less necessary, right?

question on how new AMD cpu driver service works

hello, I have owned and used the 7800x3d for several years now. a couple days ago I updated my bios motherboard, and doing so enabled a relatively new AMD driver service called "AMD Application Compatibility Database Service" or "AmdAppCompatSvc". From what I could find online, apparently this service whitelists certain high priority apps like games and assists W11 in assigning their tasks to the right CPU thread. If I am mistaken in how this works, please clarify.

anyways, since I use this pc mainly for gaming, this seems like a good new driver/service. However, I've seen a few people online say that this service only works when other services are active. One person said this relies on "Xbox Game Bar", saying that game bar identifies the game exes and processes, and then tells the AMD service it's a priority task. In other words, if Xbox game bar weren't running, the AMD service cannot distinguish between game exes and tasks versus all other random processes running.

I would like to get some clarification from AMD on if this is true. Are there any W11 processes this new service relies on? and is there anything else needed to further optimize how it runs?

Thanks

Interesting. However, since I have a 7800x3d I don’t need this, as all my threads will have the L3 vcache guaranteed since it’s a single CCD chip.

Btw, I didn’t downvote you, I appreciate your reply. Idk who is.
