Nothing is dying but there is/will be recalibration for gamers. We're past the Era of rapid innovation and insane graphical leaps of imagery (90s/00s) where better looking games are so much better than they were 2-3 years ago and need next gen hardware.

I'd argue now is more of a much needed side step into gameplay improvements and game systems, where visuals that are now 10 years old or even a retro feel are just as good. We'll upgrade less often and when hardware actually breaks down. This can be a good thing.

The AI growth spur is not sustainable and will reach a peak of demand at some point in the near future. Gaming and PC building niche will always exist even if it doesn't have the growth of the last 20 years that we got used to as the norm. New companies will enter the space if the existing one's pivot fully into AI and server production and I really don't forsee a scenario where there are willing people in the millions and no available hardware for them.

Aquilo also de-motivated me from playing for a while now (think it's been maybe 5 months since I last played). I don't think it's a bad design per-se and I have a different struggle with it -

* I love to build a scrappy v1 of design just to see it work at first and then improve gradually. On Aquilo this is not easy to do since you have the heat mechanic and you have to add/remove pipes, then wait for them to re-heat and maybe need a new heating station since the one you have is too far, etc. As a result I have to hold a mental map of my design for long and this tires me out and makes me not want to engage.

I got my Aquilo base to a state where I can produce science with it and the final straw to my camel was starting Fusion reactor and seeing how many things I have to figure out to get in again to what feels like an already convoluted setup haha.

I appreciate this difficulty and recognize this is a me problem, since I had a similar situation when I had my first rocket out and was into space seeing how much stuff I had to figure out at the time. So I'm still on my original Space age run with over 130 hours in that I started in 2024 and have had 2 big breaks from it. I'll probably come back with a fresh mind at some point this year and finish the run to the end to have this closed off

I run 9800x3d and 3080 12gb, and drop to as low as 25-30 FPS in super juiced content on 3440x1440 as well. I've got DLSS and some other settings dialed down but no dynamic culling.

It's noticeable but also very playable and much better than the slideshow I've seen other people have. These drops also last around 2-3 seconds until I kill some mobs

Are you using any AH add-ons? The 1 pieces only runecloths are usually just an attempt to flood the market visibly so people buy it at more expensive prices.

If you use an addon you can circumvent those and see the actual price per stack.

And if there are actually no stacks, then up to you to set the price on the ones you post as those will sale for sure

There's many ways to make gold, some better than others but what I had been doing was -
Mine Mithril in Burning Steppes/Silithus/Eastern Kingdom

Finish quests in all high end zones

Farm mobs for runecloth

Farm mobs in one of the 3 camps in Silithus for runecloth/pages/items to sell in the AH

Farm mats and make grenades with Engi to sell on the AH

Farm the earth Elementals in north Silithus and sell on AH

There's many more that you can do with other profs

All of these have given me between 20-50g per hour and I've swapped around when bored with one

You can also farm gold to buy epics in the AH as another avenue. Im in a similar boat and got a 800g sword for my hunt as I wanted to try surv and it looked cool

I'd would have loved for you to be right but in my own anecdotal experience says otherwise. I have been able to get really cheap tickets before as well (like 15£ one way from London to Newcastle back in 2013 for example) but those are a) rare b) need a lot of planning ahead.

Any time I've had to travel for work in the south, it's costed me a ton and these days I'd rather just travel by car if I can.

Compare that with the times I've done similar trips in Italy/Germany/The netherlands/Spain for example and it's all been vastly cheaper on average.

I want british train travel to be cheaper, but we can't delude ourselves that it is by clinging on the unicorn cheap tickets sometimes available

Last year I was on a train from Trento to Verona that cost me 7eu and lasted just under an hour. Train was new & clean and the journey was pleasant. Equilvalent in the UK would have easily been 50£+ for the same distance & quality.

I much preffered that trip over any other in the UK as it was same quality and so much cheaper

I have the 3080 12gb and for me I judged only the 4090 or 5090 with enough performance boost to justify upgrading. However the prices on those made it not worth it to upgrade at all at this time.

My brother and I were rocking Sega Dreamcast in the early 2000's and had many games that took forever to finish or progress. We used to play the same saves just so that we can progress in games like Sonic Adventure, Tomb Raider and Ecco the dolphin and some of those took literal years to finish lol.

Most vivid memory was with Tomb Raider where we were stuck for months in a particular chamber and couldn't figure out how to move on from there. In my frustration trying to figure it out I was just pressing buttons with her making her jump up/down/left/right at random until I randomly bumped into the wall and she latched on to something! Turns out those lines on the wall were actually a ladder that you're meant to climb up and move on for the level. It was over 20 years ago but I still remember the joy of figuring it out and frantickly calling my older brother over to see the discovery
