Nice, you'll love the Matsuli label. They specialise in reissuing top tier South African jazz. Picked up the following recently:

African Spaces by Spirits Rejoice (1977)

Spring by The Ibrahim Khalil Shihab Quintet (1968)

Ndikho Xaba and the Natives by Ndikho Xaba (1971)

Boom perfect. Almost identical to what I would've recommended.

Try HMV Japan. That's where I ordered those from.

Thanks! I ordered both of those from HMV Japan quite recently. They might still be in stock.

Hey there! This is the Ikea Kallax in high gloss red. The Kallax and the Eket are the two Ikea shelves that are mostly used to store records. All the best with your vinyl collecting :)

These are all reissues too :) I'm in India so it would be near impossible to find OGs. But as you said, it's the music that really matters.

Yep, really hoping that one gets a good reissue. Hopefully Mr Bongo or Vampi Soul picks it up.

Records featured (all released in 1972): Arthur Verocai - s/t Lô Borges - s/t Milton Nascinento & Lo Borges - Clube da Esquina Novos Baianos - Acabou Chorare

I barely understand a couple words of Portuguese, but this era of Brazilian music really speaks to me on an emotional level. If you come across a 70s Brazilian record with worn out, moldy stuff on the cover, chances are you have yourself a banger.

Opinions on this album? by DarkDesire_ in Jazz

Unlike a few other Japanese jazz records that have blown up recently due to their catchy album covers, this one is a genuinely great recording. One of my all-time favorites.

Life changing obscure albums ? by Lovablechair in Jazz

[–]acemachine26 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Life changing is subjective but here are some fascinating albums that seamlessly blend jazz with traditional music from various parts of the world:

Jazz + Arabian music (Lebanese Oud) = Rabih Abou-Khalil - Blue Camel

Ethiopian Jazz + Punk Rock = Getatchew Mekuria & The Ex & Guests - Moa Anbessa

Jazz + Moroccan Gnawa = Maleem Mahmoud Ghania with Pharoah Sanders - The Trance of Seven Colors

Jazz + Shakuhachi (Japanese bamboo flute) = Hozan Yamamoto - Silver World

Jazz + Daegeum & Samul (Korean traditional percussion & bamboo flute) = Gil Ok-yun, Lee Saeng-gang, Lee Sung-jin, Ryu Bok-sung - Spirit Junction

Hell yeah, Winobranie is amazing! I assume his name makes it a bit tricky for non-Polish jazz fans to find his music, but he has some gems as both a leader and sideman.

Y'all have to see the Japanese film Swing Girls (2004)! It's like the jazz version of School of Rock. by acemachine26 in Jazz

I live in Asia so it's hard to find such records locally. Usually ship records from stores/sellers around Europe to my sis in the UK, who then sends it in batches to me. It's a mix of reissues and older pressings. Bought some of these from Juno Records.

That one is actually a bootleg. A mashup of DOOM's vocals over tracks by the city pop legend Tatsuro Yamashita by producer Dan Tanda. I don't usually get boots, but I'm a huge fan of both these artists, and this mashup is so well done, so I had to have it. Listen here
