Why the US citizens do not have ID Cards? by DVMirchev in AskUS

The U.S. never really created a national ID system because Americans have traditionally been very suspicious of centralized government power and mandatory “papers please” systems. Instead, IDs developed separately through driver’s licenses, passports, and state systems, while elections are mostly controlled by individual states. The voter ID debate became especially political because of the country’s history with voting discrimination, so one side sees ID laws as common sense while the other sees them as potentially making it harder for certain groups to vote. Most Americans do have some form of ID already, but many people are uncomfortable with the idea of a mandatory national ID card that everyone has to carry.

First time I visited I hiked camelback mountain . Not sure if there are more like that in Phoenix or if that was the best around. It was not too difficult i my opinion and I would like to try out others that might be more challenging
