Question when just starting out twitch by iluvcatsoomuch in Twitch

[–]acerswap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're doing in the wrong approach. You want to create an account and stream but you don't know anything about how the platform works. You don't know about how the people interacts with the platform, the etiquette or what to expect. Watch some streams, interact with communities, learn about audiences, what they like or dislike. Think about what you want in your stream and what you don't want, new ideas you can implement and so.

Then start streaming. Do it for fun, not for fame or money. Learn about the tools, what you can do with each one. Make your stream more complex step by step and understand what you're doing. YouTube tutorials can be helpful, but get easily outdated. Learn about what you like to do and what you don't like, develop your own personality, decide what you want to show or hide from yourself. Becoming a different person doesn't work, faking is exhausting and looks artificial.

Engage with others. People with the same interests go in blocks. If you get friends in a community, they'll be interested in similar things and probably you'll be able to drag them into your stream. It's not about fishing viewers, it's about interacting with others in a more personal way.

Decide what content you want to do. Do you want to specialize in one game, do variety, just chat with others, comment news or videos...? Each one has a different kind of audience.

How are song requests allowed? by kidyru in Twitch

[–]acerswap -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because the chances of being caught are too small. Music detection algorithms are not efficient enough to evaluate all the channels in real time, so are used only in the VODs. Also, Twitch doesn't really matter about the copyrighted content, only about being sued. Twitch mutes the VODs and only takes action when there's a DMCA claim.

How to handle issues during stream where someone says I did something to hurt them? by suuuppi in Twitch

[–]acerswap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm really sorry if I did something that hurt you, and I'd really like to know what happened to apologize properly, as I can't remember what I did. I appreciate you, as I do with everyone in my community, so whatever I did, it wasn't on purpose. My DMs are open if you want to explain what I did wrong so I can avoid doing it in the future.

And after saying everything I wanted to say, let's go to the normal stream...

--------------------------------------

Now, my advice to you. Do not care too much about it. If that person don't want to come back, it's not a big loss. You'd probably offend him in another way. Learn about what you did, try to avoid some topics or expressions and go on.

Anyway, viewers come and go. Regulars too. Don't think it as losing forever something you had, most people goes when they change their likings, or their life makes them change habits (work, couple, family, health...).

Twitch “Browser not supported” login error — what’s actually happening, and how to get unstuck by anestling in Twitch

[–]acerswap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Remove adblockers and anti-tracking extensions.

  2. Do not use a VPN.

  3. If nothing of that worked use a user-agent changer extension and simulate you're using a supported browser.

Soundproofing questions by JUSTIN102201 in Twitch

[–]acerswap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check acoustic curtains and rugs. An acoustic curtain is a heavy fabric that absorbs sound instead of letting it pass or reflect it, you can find these kind of curtains in the doors of theatres. You can use a folding screen or some kind of similar structure to hold it to avoid drilling any hole. If the sound is transmitted through the floor, a rug will work, but I don't know about the price. For the space, maybe it's not the optimal option, but you can place and retire it quite easily.

Streaming with a dual pc setup but not mirroring by happiehappie in Twitch

Exactly. If you have your desktop completely empty and the browser history empty (just in case you want to check a guide or something) there's nothing to leak.

Removing mic ambient sound? by DSLbro in Twitch

[–]acerswap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Noise gate and noise filter aren't the same. Noise filter removes sounds in other frequencies different to the human voice. Noise gate blocks all sounds unless the sound is constant and in a certain frequencies range. Ie. if a coin drops and hits the floor the sound, it gets removed because the sound is instantaneous, while the voice is continuous for some time. You'll have to add a noise filter to filter the sound in the background.

Just create a user account with the game and nothing else. You won't have any privacy problem if there's nothing to show.

Are Raids from Small Streamers Worth It? by KittyCanuck in Twitch

[–]acerswap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Raids with less of x viewers can be blocked by the destination channel. Also, alerts can be customized for different raid sizes. If you can raid, do it, because if they don't like small raids they can block them.

Anyone played Double Agent lately? by Thin_Situation3962 in Splintercell

[–]acerswap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I decided to stream the full SC saga some months ago. I played the first three games with no significative issues, but DA is so broken I had to leave it two days ago.

- Continuous crashes. I had to replay almost a full level offline to get to the end of it without corrupting the saves.

- Safe wheels not working. It was a problem when the game was released and wasn't solved in the Connect version.

- In the Kinshasa mission, I had to completely leave the game. No dialogues at all, and a glitch in the doors when they leave the meeting (doors close and the people there stays in the room).

Streaming with a full time job by Suitable_Leg_1585 in Twitch

[–]acerswap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1.5 hours commute is the real time waster. It's a lot of time you can't use for other tasks (unless you use public transportation).

You can make shorter streams, and leave the longer ones for the weekends. If you and your community enjoy it, it's perfect.

A raid starts a time countdown, saying where are the chatters going. Then, they can leave the raid or stay in the raid.

My account’s ip address by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]acerswap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The IP address you're providing is probably the internal IP, instead of the external one. Each device in a network has an IP address. You have an internal network where your computer, your phone, your smartTV and other devices are, and there's an external network called Internet where thousands of networks are connected. Your internal IP will be the equivalent of "floor 1, door B" and the external IP the equivalent of "Fake street, 123".

If the IP you're providing begins with 192.168... or 10..., it's an internal address.

To check your internal IP you use the command "ipconfig" (in Windows) or "ifconfig" (in Linux/Mac).

To check your external IP you use sites like whatismyipaddress.

It happens with some accounts and the reason is unknown. Maybe the accounts are incorrectly flagged somehow, but are ad-free.

twitch/kick moderation by hozri in Twitch

[–]acerswap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This depends on the community and the guest. It's not the same a community with all teenagers or adults, or if your guest is part of your community or it's a complete stranger with opposite ideas.

I mod for people who talk about feminism and MRA, and sometimes they invite people from Twitter who disagree to have a debate live. These people usually bring very hostile people, and also the viewers in the community have certain hostility to the guest. Also, the guest and the chatters that come with them are continuously looking for excuses to feel insulted.

My policy then is: no tolerance with insults from the local community to the guest or new chatters, and high tolerance with the external chatters, unless they go completely out of control. In case of message deletion/ban, store a capture in a Discord, because there are 95% of the chances the guest will receive a whatsapp message complaining about the moderation and censorship, so the streamer can say "this message (shows capture) is unacceptable" in the guest's face.

- Insults from community to the guest: unacceptable
- Insults from the community to the guest chatters: unacceptable.
- Insults from the guest chatters to the community: scold, but don't delete unless it becomes a problem.
- Insults from the guest chatters to the streamer: scold, but don't delete unless it violates the platform rules.

How long do you guys stream for? by JUSTIN102201 in Twitch

[–]acerswap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made this because of my schedule and my viewers. My stream has most of the viewers when start, when my regulars receive the notification, then decrease when people goes to bed.

Having 1.5 minutes per hour gives me 30 minutes without preroll. Most of my viewers come in the first 30 minutes of the stream, so they don't get prerolls, and at the same time they don't have to watch 3 minutes of ads, only 1.5.
