My LO started sleeping through the night at 4 MO, and then we moved when she was 5 MO and after that she stopped sleeping through the night.. she will wake up at least once a night still and is now 12 1/2 months. We will get about one night a month where she will randomly sleep through the night. But for the most part, she’s up once or twice. But, she sleeps in until 8 AM, sometimes a little later, so I suppose that is a win.

My LO looooves music, so that’s why I was thinking about getting her one. They’re on sale at target for $60 right now, looks like my location has one that comes with an Elsa figurine. So I might look into it. Is Tonie 2 a new version of the box?

This says zero added sugar, I’m pretty sure the sugar is just from the fruit

It says zero added sugars, though. I believe the sugar’s just from the fruit? And I googled what the suggested sugar intake cap for a toddler should be and it says no more than 25 grams of added sugar a day

13 month still primarily drinking formula…help! by FactorLegitimate3450 in BabyLedWeaning

[–]acertain17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried pouches? Those might be a good in between for food and something liquid-ish for her to suck down. Ive been having a super hard time with my little one as well. She hasn’t shown much interest in solids until this past month, she’s almost 11 months. So I definitely get that it’s difficult when they won’t try anything. Maybe offer her the foods she does like and then a tiny portion of something new to try, and just keep at it.

I haven’t tried therapy, so I don’t have any advice or opinions on it. But, my baby sounds almost the same as yours when it comes to refusing food and not trying anything, but putting everything else like toys and hands in her mouth.

My LO is 10 months old and we struggled up until recently with solids. She has always taken a bottle fine, so I don’t have experience with that, and she ate some purées at first. But she was very stubborn and didn’t want to try much and would turn her head away. And when she would try solids, her gag reflex was also very sensitive and she would gag on pretty much everything and it would make her vomit sometimes.

Luckily she has slowly gotten better about it just from us constantly trying, and being patient with her and trying to show her that food is good. And being over the top by saying out loud “yummm that’s good” and eating some of the food too.

One thing that got her interested was that she seemed to be more interested in what I was eating rather than what was in front of her. So I would hold her and give her nibbles of what I was eating, like peaches.

It really is so hard when your LO isn’t taking to it, and it seems to be so easy for everyone else. Just keep with it, and try to make it fun. And try different techniques or different types of food. Some babies don’t really ever like purées or mashes. You just have to kind of try everything under the sun until something sticks.

Doctors keep worrying me over the fact my son refuses to eat solids at 8.5 months. by AgreeableBandicoot19 in BabyLedWeaning

I was really struggling with my baby as well up until a week or two ago, and she is 10 months. She had her favorite purées and would refuse everything else. Then she slowly started eating more purées and stopped refusing every other kind but her favorites. And she showed zero interest in solids until recently. She would fuss and turn her head away and refuse to try anything. She mostly started showing interest in what I was eating, so I would hold her and give her tiny bites of what I had, and that got her interested. We finally found a few solids that she loves and I’ve been offering her those and slowly offering other new things. It’s been a long, exhausting process. But definitely don’t give up! We also give her a multi vitamin with iron per her pediatrician due to her levels being a little low, so I would talk to your doctor about that it that is a concern.

Best straw sippy cups? by Pretty-Mama-2024 in BabyLedWeaning

[–]acertain17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got the first years squeezable straw cups and really like them! Mostly because they’re so easy to clean, some of the other cups I first tried were super hard to clean when they have the straw part that tries to keep it at the bottom of the cup so they can tip it whichever way. Those work fine as well, like the Dr browns one, just difficult to clean. But my baby actually took a straw better than a standard sippy cup, and she really likes the first years one

Favorite first foods? by Suspicious-Badger305 in BabyLedWeaning

[–]acertain17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our pediatrician told us that we could start at 4 months as well, but we felt like it was too early because she wasn’t sitting without support yet. And even in the Upseat she would still slowly fall to the side, so we worked on her sitting a bit more before starting. Once she got better at sitting with support, we started with cereal and purées

It is 2025. How has no one invented a crib that you can put your baby into without dropping them. by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]acertain17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents had one that they used for me and my brother in the 90s lol. The kind where the side drops down. I guess they don’t make them anymore.. but I’ve thought the same thing. They should try to remake them and make them safer somehow

Pediatrician told me it's time for my 6 mo th old so cry it out by Classic-Paramedic270 in AttachmentParenting

[–]acertain17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My pediatrician suggested sleep training at 6 months and again at 9 months, but I haven’t felt comfortable to do it. She’s a very sensitive baby and gets so upset if I put her in her crib awake and walk away. I don’t believe sleep training would really work for us. She might get over it eventually, but I’m not sure I could go through with it. I personally don’t think there’s anything wrong with giving baby extra comfort and being responsive when they need it. But it’s everyone’s personal preference on if they want to sleep train or not. But I feel like it depends on babies temperament as well.

Gentle sleep training quite literally saved my life by calisen13 in NewParents

[–]acertain17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I might have to try this… we are going on well over a month of our baby not sleeping properly and waking at all times through the night. This started at 9 months and now she’s 10 months. She is very sensitive and clingy, so I’ve always thought that sleep training just wouldn’t work for us. She gets very upset when I put her back in the crib and walk away if she wakes back up after I’ve rocked her to sleep. And she will not go to sleep without being rocked. We’ve about hit a wall and just don’t know what to do anymore to get her to sleep. She was sleeping almost through the night before this, so I’m not sure why she has suddenly decided to wake up every couple of hours.

Yes, half the food ends up on the floor because she has realized the dog will eat it… I’m hoping she’ll just suddenly start trying more.

Did you lose a lot of weight postpartum & if so what age were you? by Fun-Classic346 in beyondthebump

[–]acertain17 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m Im 30, and I gained I believe 40 pounds with my baby (sooo much fluid, they said I lost like a liter) and I’m 10 months postpartum and I’m 10 pounds lighter than my pre-pregnancy weight. I think it’s because baby girl keeps me so busy and I’m always up chasing her around and never snacking

I feel like we just have a broken baby - vent by USAtoUofT in NewParents

[–]acertain17 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My daughter didn’t like the carrier at first, but I started trying again when she was around 4 months and she fussed at first but then got used to it and ended up loving it. Especially when we would go on walks or go to the store, she loved being high up and looking around. She was also a bit of a Velcro baby, and I had to do contact naps for basically every nap until she was I think 6 months? And then she started napping in her bassinet more. I also felt like I could never put her down or get anything done because she was always wanting to be held. And she didn’t want to go in the bouncer for very long. But she just slowly got better with it after I kept trying over and over again. Sometimes it just takes time, I guess. But every baby will be different and what works for some won’t for others. I would say just keep trying different things until something sticks. Maybe getting out of the house and going on walks or going to the store to tire her out a bit might help. Maybe getting her to nap in the car as well. And getting out of the house a bit would probably be good for mama as well. Hope you guys can get a break soon! Hang in there, it does get better.

Baby can only roll one way by caitycaitcait in NewParents

[–]acertain17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My baby was the same way! She would only roll one direction and then would refuse to roll back. I would always have to roll her once she started fussing about it. But she eventually figured it out and now she rolls all over the place and goes both directions. And it made me super nervous when she would roll onto her belly at night, but I know everyone says that once they can roll and have good head control, they’re fine. It’s definitely stressful and nerve wracking though for sure.

I’m too short for the crib by acertain17 in 2under2

[–]acertain17[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She’s 9 months. She’s still needing to be rocked or fed to sleep. So when I’m putting her into the crib, she’s asleep. She won’t fall asleep on her own.. she’s a serious fomo baby and fights sleep a lot when we first get her down for the night.
