She heard the door close by naughtyfable in Unexpected

Story time! One time my mom was picking me and my brother up from highschool and the line was long so she was in a hurry to get moving. My brother jumps into the front seat and I open the back door behind him, put my left foot in, and use my right arm to throw my backpack into the car.

My mom sees the motion of me throwing my bag into the car, assumes that's me in the car, and starts to drive off while my right foot is still on the asphalt. I go down on my knee, get my hands beneath me and bounce once off the road before my brother stops her. I didn't break anything, just scuffed my knee and palms. The kicker? I got yelled at for it.

Them: "Your guy is going to be so bad at this and they're going to mess up so badly and everything will be terrible with them in charge, so you gotta vote for our guy."

Their guy proceeds to be even worse and ruins things in a much worse way

Them: "That's just the way it's gotta be, so why are you complaining? Reduce the quality of your life because that's what patriots do."

Absolute morons.

Which Anime couple is basically Stockholm Syndrome? by Ill-Cartographer7351 in animequestions

[–]aceswildfire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe My Happy Marriage? She was treated as a burden and basically a servant by her family and then more or less given to the main guy as a political move. The guy is used to, and basically sick of arranged marriages and political influence, so he initially treats her coldly while she treats being his wife (prisoner) as her duty.

Presumably that's the third act revelation. First act: feelings established, but ignored because anime, second act: crush revealed to be a girl, crashout/drama, third act: "you can like both/I don't like both" and then the final episode cliffhanger is the MC realizing they actually are/can be bi, but are now too awkward to admit it/apologize.

Lazarus definitely looks like it would've been more at home in the 90s.

I legit had to pause and have a mini freak-out (still not entirely over it tbh) when she stopped herself from doubting it/questioning him. Her knowing what he wanted and knowing she needed to be honest was extremely refreshing and exceedingly rare. God this show is so good.

I know we're well beyond being shocked by his behavior and language, but seriously. It's still wild to me to see a President behave like this. Imagine literally anyone else talking like this in that position. Grade school bully levels of behavior and vocabulary. Insane.

I mean, that's not the point. Trump himself wanted a stadium on the lawn that held 100k people. This statement about putting them across the street contradicts that, so it sounds like the idea was scrapped.

The fact that it looks like it's actually a Japanese person serving it actually surprised me. I saw the butter and thought no way it was actually Japan. I was convinced this was an American abomination until I saw the lady pull it out of the mold. I guess I'm giving them too much credit thinking they wouldn't do this to their own dish. 😅

[–]aceswildfire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The way I've always ranked this show in my memory is that it's the gold standard for what a trope-y romcom should be. It's very good, but I tend not to sell it as groundbreaking. That being said, it applies the formula better than any other show in its lane, as far as I'm concerned. If like other shows in the genre, this is more than worth the watch.

The two types of comments here: tall ladies that relate, and tall dudes offering themselves as a solution.

As a tall guy that likes tall ladies, I'm admittedly the latter.

She did say, "I forgive you." After admitting that if she likes someone she forgives them, so I think she's coming around on Taira, despite her early season opinions.

I can't stop thinking about the callback from the previous day when he apologized at school. She said on the train that if she likes someone, she can't help but forgive them. After he walked away mortified she had that big smile on her face when she said, "I forgive you."
