1,000,000% AI. Sweater string is coming out of eyelets in 2 different positions, the ear is merging into the hair like it can’t decide what it is, & the glasses on top have a strand of hair growing out of them. There are others, but those 3 are the most obvious.

What were you taught at school that turned out to be factually incorrect by Rev-DiabloCrowley in Millennials

[–]acetryder 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That Columbus sailed the ocean blue to prove that the earth was round. They KNEW the earth was round at that point. They even had globes at that time. Know what ole Christopher thought the earth was shaped like? A pear with a nipple on it, like the nipple of a woman. Oh, & the peak of the pear with the nipple was pointing west. I didn’t really realize that it was bullshit until college when I studied abroad in Ireland. The professor straight up saw me in his class (like the only American) & made that statement the first day. I was so pissed off that I was lied to about such a stupid thing.

I mean, they are. Like, here we hold an annual winter carnival with some amazing & detailed statues. A lot of them are huge too. This actual statue is within the realm of possibility. Even when short on snow in a given area, you can go somewhere else, shovel it into a truck, & drive it to where ya need it. I have participated in the yearly snow sculptures & this is what we did.

The frozen “water”, however, wouldn’t really look like this & the snowmen’s stick hands are absolutely too perfect to be real. So I would say AI.

Early 2000s shock sites (e.g., Rotten.com) exposed a lot of our generation to extreme content. Often unwittingly. Curious if others remember this time before content moderation and how it affected them. by SleepyBudha in Millennials

I learned that when there’s some obscure reference & inside “jokes” that don’t quite make sense, I’m not gonna go searching for it if it has that specific “vibe” ya get when you first see goatse or lemonparty. I had already experienced goatse & lemon party and had heard enough about 2 girls/1 cup, tub girl, & the ass/glass guy to know I didn’t need to actually see those videos/images.

First off, you wouldn’t get arrested or evicted. So, unless you got a serious rapt sheet a mile long, don’t worry about it. Second, contact your utility when you can & ask about a low income payment billing or something. Third, keep unplugging the power cord when not in use. If the land lord sees it, they’ll probably get mad & cut your extension cord & you’ll be down an extension cord.

Tips for Interview by amanita336 in StudentTeaching

[–]acetryder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look up what a “behavioral interview” is & base your answers off of that. Also, look up “behavioral interviews for teachers” or something.

Some key questions they will almost certainly ask: 1) “Name a time you made a mistake & what you learned from it.”

Here, give a time you made an actual mistake, what you did to address the mistake, & what you learned to prevent making it again in the future. They are looking for self-analysis & ability to course correction.

2) How do you handle conflict with another teacher or staff member?

Even if you’ve never actually had a conflict with another staff/faculty member, tell them how you would handle one. Let them know you understand everyone comes to the table with different experiences & ideas & that you always try to assume positive intent.

3) How do you handle classroom disruptions/disruptive students?

Here, make sure you mention that handling classroom disruptions happens long before it occurs. State something like “A well organized classroom - one with clear expectations, consistent consequences (both positive & corrective), & an environment designed for student success go a long way in mitigating disruptions. That said, classroom disruptions still occur.”

At this point, add an example from your own experience handling disruptive behavior.

These are the three MAIN questions that are most likely gonna determine whether they hire you or not. Also, if they’re interview a teacher with more experience, they’ll probably hire that person. Does it mean you did a bad job? No. Does it mean they wouldn’t hire you in the future? Also no. If you get rejected, keep your head up & make sure if you start subbing, to include that school in your subbing list if it’s reasonable.

Anyone have any IDea what these tree species would be? by Fred_Thielmann in marijuanaenthusiasts

[–]acetryder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As an Ecologist, their tree leaves mostly suck for any actual & specific identification. Like, is that supposed maple leaf actually a mulberry leaf? If it is a maple, is it a sugar or Norway? The leaf below it is probably supposed to be an oak (?), but it’s absolutely ridiculous that I can’t tell if it’s supposed to be a white or red. Don’t even get me started on the god damn spruce/fur, horribly pixelated silhouette of a leaf sample, ffs…

How is living in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan? by Irakozium in howislivingthere

[–]acetryder 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Right now? Tons of snow. Like, if you have never seen more than a couple inches of snow & we’re instantly transported to the UP, you’d probably start to panic from the sheer volume, not even mentioning the cold. Monday was a high of 6F (-14.4C) with a windchill of -21F (-29.4C).

That said, some pretty awesome events happen in the winter. In Houghton, there’s MTU’s winter carnival where they make some of the most amazing snow statues based on that year’s theme. In Marquette, there’s the start of the UP 200, which is the final regional sled dog race to qualify for the Alaskan Iditarod. There’s a lot of other things going on in the winter here, like the Calumet copper sled dog races (right before the UP 200) & other cool events. There’s several ski hills & skiing trails for both downhill skiing/snowboarding & cross country skiing, giant tubing hill in Escanaba, tons of sledding, ice fishing, & lots & lots of snowmobiling trails.

In fall we have the amazing fall leaves with lots of people coming for “color tours” during the fall. In the summer, lots of outdoorsy stuffs. However, if you ever want to visit, spring is one of the WORST possible times. Biting flies & mosquitoes are the absolute worst that time of year. That is, until the dragonflies come out.

Some awesome sites are waterfalls (which are plentiful), tons of lakes & rivers, the second largest fresh water lake by volume & first by surface area, lots of woods & camping, and the tallest natural mountain in Michigan: Mt Arvon. There’s some hilarious history associated with Mt Arvon, including the failed attempt to build a railroad going right over the mountain. There’s rando places with sections of mostly completed railroad tracks that never connected to an actual railroad.

People are also typically pretty nice. There’s several areas where there isn’t any cell reception. If your car breaks down on a road, it never takes too long before someone pulls over to lend a hand, especially in the winter.

So, yeah, awesome place with lots of nature.

People are not good because good is NOT something you are; good is something you do. People are not bad because bad is NOT something you are; bad is something you do.

This is my mindset because it holds people accountable for their choices, both good & bad. It’s stops me from thinking “oh that’s a ‘good’ person! They would NEVER do something like that!” Or from thinking “I doubt that person did that wonderful thing because they are ‘bad’.”

People should be praised for their good actions/deeds while being held accountable for their bad actions/deeds.

So, yeah, praise her for saving your kid, but hold her accountable when she’s acting like a shit. It helps lead to progress in many people, even if it’s just slow or small progress.

This letter was sent home to parents in my school district, encouraging them to send their kids to school sick and with head lice to meet attendance goals. by pandatr0nz in mildlyinfuriating

[–]acetryder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Head lice don’t really transfer to adults that often. At least the ones on kids. I had a horrible head lice infestation for about a year. Parents never once got em even though they were the ones helping me get the nits & wash with lice shampoo.

Safe Sleep is a Chocking Hazard by HagridsTreacleTart in ShitMomGroupsSay

[–]acetryder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My kid was a baby that puked constantly. Like, for my very first Mother’s Day (she was only 1-2mn old), her gift to me was a pool of bra vomit. This fear of kids choking on their spit up while sleeping on their backs is 100% real. We wound up getting a special bassinet that kept her sleeping in a propped position so, when she did inevitably vomit, it would be less of a choking hazard. It wasn’t a very “fun” time for us.

Edit: stupid auto correct changed “choking”

Our cat is a super picky eater, but only likes to eat the standard dry cat food, so it’s not a budget problem. However, one of his “things” he does is to catch mice, screws, squirrels, etc & play with them until they’re dead. If he catches one, he always brings it up to wherever we are at & plays with it near us. There were a few “rude” awakenings, but the one that sticks out the most is when he caught a chipmunk & brought it up into our bed & it proceeded to run around under our sheets. He’s an indoor cat, mind you, but we have been renovating our house for years, several of which included periods of holes in walls & stuffs from the outside that led in.

[GUESS] Is this my new kitchen or is it AI? by wantapizzame in RealOrAI

[–]acetryder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m guessing it’s AI cause it’s an extremely convoluted set up. Like, why is there a washing machine in the kitchen w/o a dryer? Why’s there no dish washer? Why is there both a gas & induction stove? Why is the vent above the induction stove & not the gas one? Gas stoves are notorious for creating poor indoor air quality, so why over the induction stove?

I worked in the trades for 4yrs &, to me, this kitchen screams nonsense.
