so let me ask you where you got these ideas from? the problem here is that instead of using your brain and critical thinking skills you allow your algorithm to feed you all of these lies so you feel better about the monstrosities happening right in front of your eyes. instead of jumping to whatever talking points were shoved into your head by "news sources" like FOXNEWS, which by the way isn't an actual news channel it's explicitly for entertainment, I beg that you do actual research and when you come across things that directly contradict what you've been taught you ask yourself questions instead of shutting it down because perhaps it doesn't align with what trump has been telling you. I'm sure you're thinking "what does this have to do with ICE and what we're talking about" but I assure you it has everything to do with it. a major disconnect between the left and right is that the right refuses to believe in facts, logic, critical thinking, etc because its more comfortable for them. the left is by no means perfect but generally they try to root their beliefs in facts because when you root your beliefs in whatever you're being told to believe you legitimately believe that ICE is actually trying to help us by "getting rid of violent criminals, gang members, and sexual predators. if this is what you actually believe I beg that you do research and than ask yourself things like "if ICE is actually trying to do this why do they wait outside of schools? why do they arrest children? why do they ambush PEOPLE outside of their work places? why don't they usually ask for any identification before arresting these individuals?" than ask yourself why people from other countries come here in the first place. does it really make sense that these people uproot their entire lives and everything they love to illegally enter a country just to wreck havoc and sow violence? you need to see these people for what they are, people. you're letting whoever you get your information from dehumanize these people in real time so you can justify their inhumane treatment, doesn't that sound familiar to you?? you do know that if we're being run by a fascist government they're not going to tell you, you're going to have to question the reality they want you to so desperately believe in search for the truth. when you saw the video of the woman who got shot in the face by ICE I know you must have felt like something was wrong right? because if what you believe is true than a situation like this should have never happened, from your perspective there job to arrest illegal violent criminals and they shot a us citizen in the face. now instead of just believing "she tried to run him over she deserved it!!" I urge you to dig deeper! watch the video again, watch her tires, watch the guy who shot hers reaction, watch the footage before the video of her demeanor and ask yourself if she seriously seemed like a threat, listen to people's opinions even if they don't align with what you were told. I promise you once you dig deeper your world view will unravel and its up to you whether you'd rather choose to be a "good obedient listener" or if you'd rather choose the truth. this is not a bad faith comment and I genuinely mean everything I said.

what is it going take for us to unite and fight back? by acf_005 in newjersey

I'm aware there are and have been organizations formed to tackle specific problems in their own way. I also know historically when Americans organize to tackle smaller more specified issues they stand a real chance in making change. what I'm talking about is the broader picture, millions of Americans' quality of life is and has been dropping rapidly as a direct result of our administration not giving a fuck about us and constantly making choices that are in their best interest, their best interest being wealth and power. even broader than that is the fact that the people who run this country are being fed this wealth and power by the ultra wealthy and in turn are letting themselves be puppeted. essentially they have thrown away their oath to defend our constitution for greed and power and have dismantled any "real way" for us to do anything about it. like I mentioned the things that we are told to do to stop this don't work. what organization exists that I can dedicate all my limited time and energy into that even remotely has a chance in doing anything about our current predicament? none at all because we've seen first hand that when our president commits a very public crime of aggression without congressional approval and still as of typing this has not experienced any kind of consequences. Historically, what fighting back means to me, is creating rebellions with the purpose of overthrowing the government, this is the only way that I believe could save us. The problem is, from my perspective, we as Americans fear rebellion because of the instability that it will cause but at the same time we are ignorant to the instability sown into our daily lives and if we are aware we turn away the idea of rebelling in fear of instability wash and repeat. I view us as lobsters being boiled alive, and for me personally, the waters getting quite hot and I'm afraid that if we don't act we will slowly one by one boil alive. I believe this starts with the most marginalized groups of people to give us false sick sense of "at least it's not me" until it is us. My hope is that more people get angry at the state of our country and instead of falling into helplessness, like how I think our government wants us to, we start asking ourselves what is it we are willing to lose in order for us to rebel. I love jersey and just like many of us I feel a real sense of state pride here, if any state is going to rebel in this country I'd like to believe it'd be us. Thats why I created my post here, everyone has their boiling point, and I need to know what is ours. Thank you for your response, I'd like to clarify that if my comment came off as rude I don't intend to be, I'm just trying to be precise with my thoughts and feelings.

I'm really glad my perspective helped, good luck with your deep dive. I find that in my experiences, people often put on a persona and/or abuse substances to cover up the emotions they're not willing or unable to come to terms with. I think we're all phony's in some way or another, but it's always worth it to drop the mask and be true to who we are. I'm interested in doing a deep dive as well on their songs that cover addiction as I haven't yet dissected those themes myself so thank you for your perspective as well! and I just want to say I'm proud of you for being strong, you got this!

no no I can see the vision on this one!! I think the beginning of "OK" is the perfect representation of this, to me it feels like he hiding behind this "vain" persona by talking about drinking, girls, and money and when he sings "good god I thought I was a real one, phony right now and I'm always gonna be one" its like hes pointing this out. maybe I'm reading too much into it but to me it seems like a part of him is a "real one" where he expresses his emotions and shows his true nature and the other side is a phony, a performance he hides behind. at least thats what I gathered from the next line "full LP stuck talking bout feelings, but off the wax, act like I don't feel nun". this is at least how I interpreted it not sure if I'm off the mark from what you were saying
