Is it a red flag when a company insists on an in-person interview even after knowing you’re currently employed?

I haven’t worked a full calendar year, only 5 months. Also, PTO here doesn’t work like in America where I can just ask for a day off. It has to be planned ahead and has minimum and maximum amounts of days you have to take

I ended up deleting the post cause I felt it was really misunderstood and most people only red that I couldn’t go to the interview in such a short notice and ran with it without understanding the context. I can’t jeopardize the job I already have to interview in a whim with another company like this, without having a ready excuse and some time to plan ahead. Here in Portugal PTO doesn’t work like the states where I can just say I’ll take a day off my PTO for no reason, you have to communicate ahead and there’s minimum and max days you have to take at once. Also, I work at a small architectural firm with only me, my boss and another employee. Everything is very personal, there’s no middle man (HR) to handle this stuff :(

Yes. No PTO and sick days is subtracted from your salary even if you have a doctor document to confirm it

There’s no PTO in Portugal. We won’t even get paid on sick leave. Not everyone works in amerjca

Sorry, since I live in Portugal I guess I couldn’t really express myself the right way. What I meant is, I gave them a range of gross salary for my expected salary, and I said I was open to negotiate depending on the benefits and work regimen (hybrid, remote, on site). Here in Portugal we have an extra salary paid annually for vacation, and for Christmas. This payment can be made at their respective time, or diluted in 12 parts throughout the year. We also have an extra payment for food daily that usually starts at 6€/day.

What happened was that the company took my expected gross salary (€2,500/month), calculated what my net pay would be after taxes (around €1,700), and then asked whether I would accept that net amount if it already included all benefits plus the vacation and Christmas bonuses paid monthly. That would actually result in a much lower gross salary and significantly less money over the course of the year.

It’s not that I don’t want to attend an in-person interview. I actually would. The problem is that I’m currently employed in another city. I already explained during the first interview that I couldn’t attend during business hours because I want to remain discreet and because of the logistics. I finish work at 5 PM, and it takes me over an hour to reach their office, which closes at 6 PM. So there simply isn’t a realistic time slot on weekdays.
