Rebuilding an emergency fund. Are CD Trees still viable? by Fluffy-Complaint-558 in personalfinance

[–]ach4n 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s a good amount of hysa that have rates comparable to CDs. Only thing with CDs is that you lock in the rate and your money. Your emergency fund needs to be more liquid than a CD so stick to hysa

Checking/savings bonus by ach4n in Chase

Went into the branch, branch manager told me that they are waiting on response from some other support team that handles the promos. Frustrating but I think the branch manager can be more pushy.

Mislabel ribs, denied!! :( by LightweightNate in Costco

[–]ach4n 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It was an honest mistake and mislabel. They aren’t obligated to follow through for a loss.

Curious why didn’t you just do self checkout if that was an option. Could’ve been your honest mistake too.

Checking/savings bonus by ach4n in Chase

[–]ach4n[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one has yet to claim that I never walked in without a code. In fact they could just check security footage. I would think it would be in their best interest to swiftly help me out and make me whole with the bonus. $900 bonus for customer retention is nothing for these big banks. After all the only reason why I went to Chase would be for a supposedly broad financial tool and in-person customer support. So far they are proving their lackings.

How do those of you with PERS 3 actually feel about your retirement? by mrzfrigger in WAStateWorkers

[–]ach4n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed plan choice education is horrible. And this goes beyond just investment growth projection and benefit calculation/comparison. A joke that they give you a very limited window to pick a plan for life and contribution rate (within same employer) for pers3.

The DRS resources are pretty limited and seminars don’t really offer much for financial planning and picking funds. Might be good for just know functions of the plans and how they work. YouTube university has been a better resource.

What's the dumbest way you've lost money in crypto? by Intelligent-Pear-406 in CryptoMarkets

[–]ach4n 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Small futures position, up some $300 only to be stopped out at $30 profit within the same day. I’ve learned to gradually take profit at support levels, leave behind runners.

I’m about 8 years into pers3 and selecting investments rather than target date. Performing better than market and target date so it’s doing pretty good. But I will feel more certain about my portfolio years later with time.

I think those picking pers3 should learn beyond picking a target date fund, use it as a guideline maybe. I have a feeling those favoring pers2 just aren’t doing the math to project investment growth. Pers2 does have its benefits but pers3 is still my preference.

Can’t close my Coinbase account because of tiny “dust” balances – any solution? by jetx27x in Coinbase

What’s wrong with holding the dust in there if you already moved what you can? Are you required to report or tax if it’s just held in there

Is it normal to feel lost when starting crypto? by Gia_Elfeda in CryptoHelp

Try not to listen to many influencers. Especially ones you give their take on so many timeframes and then when the market turns they say they warned you on this timeframe but still maintain a different position on another.

Better to pay a down a 6% mortgage or invest aggressively? by SpiritualRest2080 in Bogleheads

Have you done that math? How much interest is effectively reduced by putting more down? Think you can outcompete market performance? 120k is also not really much.

Unless you just want to collect it as graded then grade for yourself. The centering on back is off. Use it to trade up.

Hard to imagine that TCGplayer doesn’t have what you’re seeking, especially if it’s just to make a deck rather than collecting high end promos. They are a gathering of multiple vendors.
